My hb passed at 4:00 this a.m. I received a call from the care center about 3:45 saying he wasn't doing well. As I was walking out the door, I received the call from a tearful nurse saying he'd passed. He had vascular dementia. I sat by him as he ate dinner last night and he made faces and smiled at staff--reciprocated by them. Their "fun" thing to do. When I left I said I'd see him today and he said, "OK." He'd donated his body to Indiana University Anatomical Research; so they've taken the body to Indianapolis. Today I received tearful hugs from staff--even the maintenance man. He wasn't always cooperative with them, but he did smile and joke in his way.

Of course this is so sad and our thoughts are with you, but what a way to go....probably died in his sleep. There really is no good way to go...but, some ways are better then others. Hugs for you and your family.

I'm sorry Zibby. Good for your husband to donate his body for research. He has found peace and his last act was thinking of others. I hope that you will find some peace as well in your own time.
Dear Zibby I am so sorry for your loss but know that he is in the arms of our Lord and all the illness that caused his and your suffering are now gone. He left you with a beautiful memory of him smiling and enjoying his last hours happy. May our Lord's love surround you and your family in this next step of life. Prayers coming your way. Bruce D *
