My heart is broken. My soulmate, light of my life, is gone from this Earth and all it's pain and suffering. She is reborn into a new life of wholeness and is at peace with the universe, in the loving light of God. May He hold her in His loving arms and protect her for eternity.

Joe, let me share with you a poem - author unknown - that a friend enclosed in her Christmas card to me this year:

    MY FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN

I see the countless Christmas trees
    Around the world below,
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
    Reflecting on the snow.

    The sight is so spectacular!
    Please wipe away that tear,
    For I am spending Christmas
    With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
    That people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can't compare
With the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you
    The joy their voices bring.
    For it is beyond description
    To hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me.
I see the pain in your heart,
But I am not so far away,
    We really aren't apart.

So, be happy for me, dear one,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
    With Jesus Christ this year.

I send you a special gift
    From my heavenly home above,
I send you each a memory
    Of my undying love.

After all "Love" is a gift
    More precious than pure gold.
    It was always most important
    In the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other
As the Father said to do,
For I cannot count the blessings
Or the Love He has for you.

    So have a Merry Christmas
    And wipe away that tear,
    Remember, I'm spending Christmas
    With Jesus Christ this year.

Sweet brother, TJ, I was so sad to read yoiur post about your Maryann. I'm right there with you - still mourning the loss of my Foster. So many of our loved ones are leaving us right now, it seems. It's even more difficult during the holiday season.

I know your empty feeling. I told my girlfriends that if they placed their hands on my chest over my heart, I was sure they'd get blood on their fingers. It hurt that much...so I do understand. I will also mention that with me, the first week now is a blur. I know I received friends, went to the funeral home and walked and talked, but the memory of those times is like remembering a dream now. Just take it a day at a time..like I remind myself. ..and, let's see, ...if I can remember the directions on how to walk. It's left foot forward...then right foot forward...then left foot forward. It will come back to you in a few days, but you might want to keep a little note pad in your pocket in case you forget.

I'm lovin' you, TJ... Only your friends on this site AND GOD know what all you've been through and what a wonderful husband you've been to MaryAnn. Somehow, the men should deserve two stars in their crowns ( like this: * * ), because it has to be harder for your guys to care for your AD Spouses. You were STELLAR in your task. Everyone here saw that..and I'm proud to call you friend.
    Love,Nancy B

This is a bittersweet time for you, TJ. On one hand you hurt so badly for the loss of Mary Ann, yet a part of you is glad she is finally free of the Dementia road. As hard as this is for you, hold fast to the good things about it.
She is in a better place. She didn't suffer a horribly elongated passing. She will be with you always, in your heart and in your children. You have done your best always...and it was enough. Enough to see her through the Dementia trail and into the Heavenly Light. You were truly her White Knight and have now earned your *.

As so many have asked other before you, please stay with us. Whenever you're ready pop in with advice and HUGS. We are with you in this stage as we were in the others before.

    Peace be with you. Carol
