Good Monday morning to all of you out there! Hope your day will be a good one. Had our coffee, I've had breakfast, DH has dressed and is taking the dog for her walk; then will fix his own breakfast. I have to leave for my mammogram in about 1/2 hour. He will be okay while I am gone - I hope! It's beautiful in KY this morning, so I will be working in the yard when I return. Those weeds just keep growing!
  2.
Hi to everyone--Dh still sleeping so I'm not "on duty" yet. Today we are going to our grandaughter's pre-school graduation--it should be really cute. Landscapers are in the yard as we speak, mulching their hearts out. I love how the garden looks when freshly mulched--DH did it all himself the first year after he stopped work, I think it took 20 yards of mulch (that's a lot). He ended up with a sore hand, hence I've let the pros do it ever since. Plan to do some shopping after the graduation and maybe dinner out, the weather looks beautiful.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, it was bright and sunny here in North Georgia. Saturday I ran my morning errands and then went to the NH to see DW for about an hour and a half, she is declining rapidly. Had any easy afternoon, had lunch at Chili's about 2:30 PM and drank all of the sweet tea I could hold. Went to mall, browsed around bought a couple pair of shorts and a shirt. Then headed home and relaxed the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Sunday went to church, did some household chores and laundry and planted some Pachysandra below the back patio on the hillside. The granddaughter's came over late in the afternoon, we had a cookout, the lady next door hollered at me while I was grilling burgers out back and asked if I had one for her, I said sure, come on up, she did and we all enjoyed the evening.

Today is Monday, it's back to work, will stop and visit DW on the way home, then grab a bite to eat somewhere then go home and do some more chores around the house.
  3.
Happy Monday from Wyoming. It's slightly overcast again but looks like that could clear up and be sunny. It's cool but you can
almost see the grass grow at this temperature. Hoping to have some workmen come fix the leak in the water pipe today, that
would be awesome to have repaired finally. Since it is on a hillside, we had to wait for the ground to dry up to get a backhoe
up to the leak. DH is still in bed, probably until about 10 oclock so I have some free time to putter, play with the laptop, do some
e-mail and just breath. There is a robin sitting on top of a little pine tree out front, looks funny perched right on top. Four
hummingbirds are fighting over the feeder like mini fighter planes. Time for a bite to eat, yeah!

Another beautiful day, but the rain is coming tomorrow. I'm going to enjoy.

My husband just went off on one of his long walks. I worry, but he really can still do them and they are the only thing he is interested in these days. He used to love auto racing. Now I can't even get him to watch the ones I record for him.

Hope you all have a great day.

It's supposed to be raining hard here. It isn't. In fact it appears to be drying up. Good thing, as Daughter is flying in from CA, arriving late this afternoon. She'll be here until Sunday.
Plans are to do major work on the yard and cull a bunch of the stuff she still has stored here. It's going to be a busy week.

Good Monday morning from the U P , it is only 39 degrees out way to cold for this time of year, usually in the 50`s at least. overcast, going to rain. Off for the morning with daughter Becky, she has therapy on her ankle she broke during the winter, then off to see dh for about an hour, also to the bank to put some money in. Maybe we will catch some lunch at our favorite restruant.Have a good day everyone smiles for you all

It's a cool, but above normal, crisp, sunny morning in the pacific NW. Looking to have an 80+ degree day. Yippie!
Awoke to find an email from someone who was buying a centerpiece coffee table from me (Craigs List).
Conditions of payment and pick up are changing, AGAIN! Now I believe it could be one of those scams.
I'm trying to decide if I should reply before reporting it first.
It's not yet 8 AM here so I have to wait til the cyber crimes detectives have had their coffee and show up to work.

Other than thinking about the above, I just plan to spend this beautiful day working on myself (attitude), and working in my house (air conditioned) in an effort to get our lives more organized.

It's 10am here in Northern Illinois and we are having a rainy day today. Temperatures will be in the low 70's but wet. Dropped both of my adult kids at the El station for them to go to work at 7:30 this morning. Came home had breakfast and a cup of coffee. Husband is now taking his usual morning walk -- first of as many as I will let him take. Later we will do our usual walk at the mall to keep him happy. Taking is easy after my surgery--can't lift yet. Hope its a peaceful day.

Hi to all!! Hope this is a good day for you. Just done my busy paperwork and have to go to nh to ride in the van w/dh to VA. Should take all afternoon but at least I don't have to think about transporting him. Yesterday, my sister and I visited dh for about 2 hours (bright sunny day so we went outside to the patio and enjoyed some sun). Afterwards, we took an unexpected trip to Noank (near Mystic, Ct) to get a lobster roll (hot w/butter on it) at Abbotts. They are well known around here for "lobster in the rough". It's a great place. Bring your wine/beer, etc. order yor meal and then they call your nomber. You get to eat inside or out but it is right on the water and the boats even order ahead and dock to have their lobster!! It's set up picnic style so casual is the word. If you prefer fried fish, just a few "doors" down is Costellos (get it-Abbott and Costellos!!!). Best fried seafood around. If any of you are in this neck of the woods, I highly recommend this place. So relaxing and STRESS FREE. Yeah

Good morning, everyone! Our usual Monday morning routine took place, then off to work. At 11:30 I have to meet my grandson in the parking lot of his college to watch my husband while he goes to the bookstore on campus to buy his books for his evening class (which starts tomorrow evening). I drove the convertible to work today. It is a gorgeous day here, and I'll have the top down going home! It is amazing how many people wave at you and smile at you when you drive a convertible with the top down! <grin>

Good day to all. Nice sunny day today in WV. I am hoping it dries up enough that SIL can prepare the ground for me to set out the sweet
potatoes. It is dangerous to leave green living plants with me very long. I have a rose bush sitting on the porch in agony, waiting for someone
to plant and miracle grow her. I definetly do not have a green thumb, so it is everybody for themselves here.

What a great idea!!! I am simply amazed at where all you folks are from. I so enjoyed reading these posts--Flordia, Alabama, Texas, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wyoming, Oregon...Love it! Love it! I'm up here in the NW corner of the country in the Puget Sound Country--we call Seattle the Emerald City. Just beauatiful the last few days. It's going to be 80ish today.

This morning got the refrigerator all cleaned out and washed down. I like to put a bit of Purex in the water--that way I know I've killed those little nasties that like to hang around.

I had been to the market on Saturday and purchased a supply of meat. So, today I broke all that stuff in meal-sized freezer bags for future use.

I'm getting pretty good at organizing my shopping trips. I only go about every 2 weeks now when my grandson comes over and I guy the bulk stuff. My friend takes me shopping on Thursday afternoon after we play cards to pick up fresh stuff. That's pretty handy.

I'm going to work outside in my garden for a bit now. Hope you all have a terrific day. And I really enjoy this site. Thank you Divvi for thinking of it.

Hi, this is a great idea and it will sure life a lot of spirits. I just checked in and read about this particular discussion. I look forward to reading it every day. It is exciting to be hearing that people from all over the U.S. reads this post. I am from Louisiana and like Texas, it is hot and humid. We are suppose to be getting a cold front shortly. I bet the weather man means it will be 75 degrees instead of the 89 or higher we are getting now.....lol...... anyway, it is beautiful here in Louisiana and I am enjoying the birds, flowers and life. It has been a busy day with doctor appointments but otherwise a Beautiful Day In The Neigborhood........... Keep writing those glorious post and God Bless One and All.

Good Morning everyone, This morning I have to stop at Walgreens and get Claritan for DH, Caltrate for me and check on the CoQ10 for me. From there I go to the hospital to get blood taken which is a yearly thing. I hate it because they either can't find my vein or if they can it rolls out of the way. Why do they have to take it from that one spot? After that I go to pick up my house deed, POA's and $500.00 that I gave to a lawyer in March and he was SUPPOSED to get the deed in my name. That is a whole other story which I will post later. Then I go to the bank and to the store. After that I will come home and collapse. lol. I hope you all have a peaceful day with your LO.

H&H here. Temperature will reach low 90's later today. I love being outside in the heat, so will do some kind of outdoor work. Still on my first cup of coffee, making complete sentences difficult. Leaving shortly to take the 4 lb. 'hua to the vet for cleaning of nasty, nasty teeth, which I'm told is typical of chihuahuas. Back home, another cup of coffee, and possibly complete sentences in next posting. I hope it's a good day for all of us everywhere.

finally I'm reading and posting early in the morning. Somehow there always seems so much to do, but for a few weeks my leg had been giving me such fits that it was demoralizing! I was content to flop and watch movies with my husband and do what I had to do with my various volunteer projects but I had no energy to do anything else. Now, with my leg's pain more or less in abeyance, I have a bit more energy. It looks like it's going to be a nice day, in the 70s, so I may try to get out and use the weed whacker on those tall seed stalks of grass. I got the last of the three big mailings off yesterday and now have only a few small things to attend to along those lines. THen get ready for the trip to the island a month from today (this one's a week for me alone, later I'll take my husband out)

Sunny here in WV and going to be in early 80's. No rain until maybe some around midnight. Still hoping to work some in the garden if it is
dry enough. My plants on the porch and in my kitchen are still breathing and they are sighing with relief to be moved to the garden.

Another beautiful day in prospect here on Florida's "Space Coast", with an outside chance of catching a glimpse of the space shuttle Atlantis being ferried home piggyback on a 747 later this afternoon. So far I've walked down to the gate to pick up the newspaper, accompanied by our adopted Doberman, (well, accompanied might not be the right word -- she probably ran a half mile criscrossing the yard while I was walking the 600 feet to the gate and back), and afterward fed and watered her. Then I got out the makings for another breakfast of bacon and eggs, hoping to tempt Frances again since she ate hardly anything yesterday -- but my stomach is growling already because it's accustomed to being fed corn flakes within minutes of getting up!

Later on I'll make a run up to the medical lab to pick up a specimen cup so I can try to collect a "clean catch" urine specimen from Frances, who has just completed a ten-day round of Cipro for another UTI -- her fourth episode in the past year. I have an appointment with our pcp next Monday, where I'll request that he start her on a prophylactic daily dose of antibiotic and also set up some sort of "visiting nurse" arrangement for any needed future labs or medical assessments. I've already sent him a letter detailing the things I'll want to discuss with him.

With local schools out for the summer, our mental health counselor son will have more free time and a more flexible schedule, so I'll have opportunities for more respite time over the next two or three months if I can come up with anything I really want to do. I enjoy getting out of the house and mowing, etc., but it's getting too warm already for doing yard work that just doesn't have to be done, plus I've swatted the first mosquitoes of the season already, so maybe I'd better look into tamer respite activities.

Maybe if I'll make lots of noise, Frances will wake up and I can go ahead with breakfast -- her last potty trip was at 7:15 (before that it was 5:45, 2:45, and 2:00). I wasn't much impressed with Conan O'Brien's debut on the Tonight Show last evening.

Okay, divvi, you didn't give us a follow-up on the wrens. did they survive?

We're bummed at the zoo. We'd had a tiny tree kangaroo in pouch, but it died, and our latest attempt at IV fertilization of one of our elephants didn't work. However, we have lots of other beasties around who might eventually give us young'ns. Not to mention a crop of young Canada goslings who managed to elude our big snappy turtle until they'd out grown being turtle food.

Daughter arrived on schedule. Hit a SNAFU with fine print on he hotel and car rental bookings. Ironed out--she's crashing at her Grammy's and picks up the car this am. So good to see her. By the time she left to go to Grammy's she was really tired. DH could tell and was up quite late, worrying that she was in bed getting some sleep. I even played the voice mail from my Mom that she'd gotten our daughter to her house safe and sound, they'd made the bed and Daughter was alreadyt in it. He still worried.

After she gets the car she'll be here working on the yard and stuff.

briegull's mention of IV fertilization of an elephant reminds me of a bad story that one of our college profs told once.... but I'd better post under the Giggles thread to keep from getting off topic.

Jean, if you are a hard stick, tell them to use a butterfly on you. I'm an extremely hard stick, and one of the techs in California told me about the butterfly and to tell anyone taking my blood to use one. I've never needed to be stuck twice if they will take that tech's advice. Not as much black and blue either.

My big news of the day is that I'm heading out to the library ALONE in half an hour or so. My husband is out on one of his walks and the library called that two books I'd ordered were in and ready for pick up. There actually should be two more that were published today, but I don't know if they bought them or not. With brand new books, they don't put the book in the system until the publication date, which means they use an old fashioned notebook to track the holds on those books. And since they aren't on the system, I don't know, from home, where I am on the list. In one of the cases I could easily be 3rd or 4th or even later on the list.

I also found that my local CVS has Amazon.com gift cards. I bought myself a few so I could pre-pay for books I want as the next few months continue. I always use my Visa points on Amazon as well. I just like to be able to buy myself a treat whenever I want, and this is the best way to do it.

It's another beautiful sunshiny day here in Hotlanta, it should get up to about 90 today. I'm sitting here in my office working on my first cup of Earl Grey Tea. I have to head over to the other office complex for a couple of meetings. That should occupy my time until lunch. I've got to go on-line today and order myself a new black formal bowtie to wear to a party on my upcoming get away to the N Georgia mountains. I know that sounds strange, formal wear, N Georgia mountains, but rest assured I'm not losing my marbles.

I won't be going back to the NH to visit DW until Thursday night, last night she was more interested in watching a couple of her fellow residents verbally abusing each other over a folded sheet than in talking with me. So I think she is adjusting quite well.

Good morning from Wyoming. It's raining today and still cool so it's turning into a typical spring for us. Gotta have that grass to
feed the cows ya know. Having a little coffee, thinking about what to do this day. Finally had an excavation guy show up yesterday
to access the water leak and says he will be back in the next few days to repair it. YEAH! I had a nice chat with my daughter last
night. She was so excited, she had purchased an electric mandolin and joined a bluegrass band. She was just coming home from
practice and was giddy with the pure fun of it. That makes me happy to hear her so excited. Mary in Montana, if you are out there,
watch out for a little blond gal playing mandolin somewhere in Butte. Cheers all.

Good morning to all. Looks like we're back to gloom and doom today- cloudy with a chance of showers. 66 degrees. I have to go to Dads to neet w/funeral director to get prepaid funeral plan. Need to set up an account for him and schedule a badly needed haircut!! Went to the VA yesterday. Left nh 12:30 and returned 4:30 for a 15 minute dr visit!! Such a waste of time. One good thing. Doneit, Where in Ohio does your family live? My DH is a Buckeye and we were stationed there before going to Germany. After he retired from the AF we lived in Enon for 17 years and he retired from DOD and we moved to SC. Enon was right outside Fairborn and we had one traffic light. The largest towns were Springfield and Dayton and then Cincy and Columbus. We have been in SC 19 years.

I get a couple of freebie hours today..YEA! G has a massage, then lunch with his best friend who also does pick up and delivery service. Now, what to do for me? I'm sure I'll think of something :-)

We've noticed a rather large change since meds were switched. Will post on FTD.

Good morning! We are having our third beautiful day in a row! Last month we had over 8 inches of rainfall above normal! It is supposed to reach 90 today. And we just got word here at work that the air conditioner is out in our office building! 11 Floors and no air!! I said "if I start sweating, I'm outa here!" Others said we'll be right behind you! <grin>

My grandson starts his first college class tonight! He's my daytime caregiver for my husband, and he is going to be taking evening courses so that he can get college credits while he is helping us at the same time. I'm so proud of him! He prepared the best chicken fajitas and Spanish rice last night for dinner! I love it that he wants to be a gourmet cook! <grin>

Divvi, great news about the birds! Jean, good luck with the blood draw in the morning. Doneit, as Divvi said, in case we forget to tell you later, have a great trip! Carol, I'm glad your daughter arrived safe and sound! I love this discussion! Jimmy, I'm glad your wife is adjusting! GC, I'm glad you are going to get respite! I never have been a Conan fan anyway! <grin> Marygail, if the ac doesn't come back on soon, I'll be envying you! Jules, when we travelled through Wyoming three years ago for the first time, I was amazed at its beauty and crystal clear skies! Glorious! Starling, good for you! Briegull, so sorry about the kangaroo. Vickie, let us know the results of the CT scan! Kathy, I'm glad you are getting everything in place for your dad. Lois, I love your garden already! Susan, your slogan is our mantra!

    I love this discussion!

It's going to be humid here in the Pac NW today. Upper 80's w/ chance of thundershowers late this afternoon. Slowly over the weeks I've been working on "PURGING" things that I couldn't get to while caring for my late husband. I've donated many, but not all (can't go there yet) his clothes, shoes, ties.
I haven't filed taxes yet for 2008, for either us OR my parents (I'm Mom's trustee, Dad's POA). Could NOT get or keep things together through this past year, and Paul's death coming March 14, well....I couldn't turn on the "Get Down To Business" mind-set soon enough to get into doing all this paperwork. Filed extensions for the parents return, and for mine and DH's. Sometimes it is real tough going through the clutter of paperwork, coming across all kinds of things..........but at the same time it feels good to think I am irradicating more chaos from my life. Anyway, lots of indoor and outdoor repairs and purging of "things" around the yard and the shed that can take a back seat to the indoor "paper" stuff while we have this chance of rain and thunder today and tomorrow.

Good early afternoon from Connecticut. Had a great morning in the garden, playing with the cats and walking the dogs. Then had to go and spoil it by coming into work where I am overloaded as usual. The garden looks lovely though. The iris are out. I had planted an Iris collection from White Flower Farm last fall and some of those are incredible colors - pale blue/lavender (very pale), yellow, stark white, two colored ones with dark purple on the bottom and a light to medium purple on the top. The Ladies Mantle is now blooming too along with my peonies. I bring a bouquet into work each Monday. It is kind of fun to enjoy my garden through the day in vases. It is also fun to get all the compliments from people here at work.

Several of my favorite authors have book releases today.......so many books and so little time.

Oh well, lunch time, then off to see DH for a while before going back to the grind.

it is fun music number done in the Antwerp train station in the "improv everywhere" style. I'm heading out with Dh to do some errands on this beautiful New York day.

doneit, Don't believe I know Pickerington but every now and then I see the name of a place in Ohio that I've never heard of. I hope you have a safe trip and a wonderful time with your son.
