A GLASS? of wine...OhmyLord! l! I needed a full bottle...but was to shaken to open one. When it was over, I really think I was in shock. As I said to Divvi, I couldn't even write about it for a week...I was literally scared out of my mind and didn't know which way to run - It was my worst nightmare in real life. Just thinking about it and what might have happened has me shaky right now. I MUST get him to agree to ride in the back seat. IF he will. It's so hard to get him to do anything that he doesn't want to do. RE: the gas gauge...I have NEVER, NEVER, EVER run out of gas, but since we have been married, (18 years ago) .. that is the one thing he obscesses about... (Do you have gas? Did you get gas? How much gas is in your car?.... It's so odd!) What is worse is that I stopped at that horrible place to get gas when I could have waited and gone to our neighborhood station. Go figure!
you cant really ask them to ride in the back seat. you just have to say if they want to go them its the back seat and seat belt for security reasons..or they stay home! it worked for me, hard at first but then it was much easier and now he just automatically goes to the back doors. divvi
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR CARING COMMENTS AND SUPPORT!!!!!!!!! I was horrified as I was reading about poor Nancy's dog. I have a little 6 pound male poodle. I bought him as a substitue for what I was losing with my husband and my dog means more to me than a dog ordinarily would. I can't imagine what I would do losing him. In her story, after the dog was ok, it did give me a little laugh - and it felt good to laugh. I will carry the pictures of those immigrants as a reminder to have a chuckle when things get bad.
As you all know, I am sure - for me, it is when things are going so well - it makes me wonder if I am making it all up. And then the BOMB comes when I least expect it. We have limited funds at this point due to the many "surprises" that keep showing up from my LO's past financial decisions. I am pretty much on top of the money and I handle it, but seems like I have a few pieces I need to take over. The last big piece of money that we have is his 401K. He told me at the end of last summer that he had taken it all out of the stock market and put into no risk bonds that only had a small interest, but no risk. Silly me, I believed him - makes me wonder who really has the brain damage issue :-)
Imagine my surprise when I got the statement showing that he just bought stock in Bank of America, Citibank and GE. I had asked him over the weekend about his call to them as I hear him on the phone and he blew me off saying he was just asking for some info to be mailed. When I confonrted him with it, you can imagine the scene. I called the representative and told her we wanted it back into those "safe" bonds. She must have thought that I just fell off of the turnip truck as there are no bonds. The money was in the Russian stock market and General Electric. I thought I was going to explode. I have calmed down now - and she is looking into what she can do to help us at this point. My husband reads the paper everyday and the news on the internet, but apparently he must have a soft spot for Russia :-)
I don't like the fact that we have lost money, but more than that it is the lying. I guess it goes with the territory of AD. I did something very ugly. I have taken all the phones in the house and am going to put them in the trunk of my car in the tire well and removed the mouse from his computer until I can figure out how to keep him off of the internet. My computer has a password. I also took his cell. I will keep one phone in my bathroom and my cell. We have a security system so if he needs to reach the police or fire, all he has to do is push a button on the panels that are placed throughout the house.
I will get our computer guy over to take care of the internet. Now all of you can have a laugh about me thinking we had our money safely put away AND IT WAS IN THE RUSSIAN STOCK MARKET. Even tho he can pass that MMSE, I think that this little gem should should all of those professionals that he has something missing somewhere.
Thanks for listening and thanks for your support. I AM SO GLAD THE DOG IS SAFE AND THAT YOU DIDN'T HAVE A HEART ATTACK OR GET HIT BY A CAR.
Thank you for your kind words. I can only tell you that if Tigger had been hit, I would have to lie on the road and let a car run over me too. I couldn't BEAR to lose that little boy. We both love him to death.
I know about the market problems - only I'm two years ahead of you. DH had a trust account and decided to sell everything in it about two years ago to pay off a margin account and increase his cash account.. What he wasn't told was that he would have had to pay taxes on the gains on those stock items. He's in Stage 6 now and can't remember anything - and cannot even sign his name. In November, I learned he owned $27,000 in Income Tax for those sales. I had to FIND that money, because you cannot "pay out" Trust Account Taxes . I had no history to recall, because he did all of this on his own, he was very much on top of all his finances and that account was in HIS name, not mine. Still, I had to pay the bill (what's his is mine and vice versa). We still file joint accounts and have resources, but not that much liquidity. Especially NOW!!
Shocked as I was over that revolution, it didn't scare me as much as seeing the two boys I loved the most in the middle of two major roadways. And ! Viva Mexico!!!! Love those guys!!!
NancyB, Sounds as if it was a horrible experience. I can't imagine which one I would have ran after. I am glad that in the end everything turned out ok. I am sure you were shaking in your shoes. Relax now, one disaster diverted. Rk
ummmm, Chocolate Strawberry Martini recipe? Could I possibly get that? Thanks! Rk
oh Dogma, how dreadful. the RUSSIAN stocks?? my! what a shocker for you to find out. i hope you can recover whats left and get it into something less risky. this is just one more tragedy that the others startingout this disease need to hear to be on guard what the early dementia victim is capable of. ruining your finances when they seem so 'well' -
Rk, i had to think about that, haha. who you'd run after first...awwww..our pets are our salvations for sanity..so true.! divvi
Of course you would run after the dogs first....drivers couldn't see them....they can see the humans!!! <grin>
My touch of morning humor! LOL
I need all the laughter I can get these days!
I'm good with electronics, but having two computers messing up and a cell phone program not responding, and working with techs on the phone for HOURS each night and not getting results as yet is wearing me down! And none of the three is functioning properly yet!
I guess I'm taking my frustration and extra sleep loss (Microsoft techs from India were on the phone until after midnight again last night and are calling me back tonight, so no sleep tonight either) out on you guys....I just ranted on another discussion! Maybe I should stop typing until everything is working properly again! <grin>
