Thanks for the advice. I think you're right. I should give this a try and see if I'm up to it. The facility also has a group of volunteers who advise vets in the community on how to get benefits. I thought about doing that, but I'd have to get certified by the VA first and I'm told it can take up to a year. Besides, I'm not sure I want to start doing legal work again. So maybe I'll just sign up to visit residents, and see how that goes.

Myrtle - if you have a dog and it gets along well with strangers, you can take it. The residents love when Jas shows up. They said they have been trying to find someone that would come in regularly with their therapy dog to visit but no one has contacted them yet, so they are happy when I show up with Jas.
