Well today we went to the Elder Law Attorney and got the wills. DPOA's and Living Wills. For some crazy reason I feel like a cloud has gone from over my head...is that weird or what? We didn't get into the Medicaid part right now. I wanted to wait and see how Mac gets along. If he gets really bad and it looks like he will need a NH then I will do the Medicaid part. I still need to get the deed to the condo put in my name alone but I will do that next week. Savings and CD are now in my name only so if Mac does need a nursing home I will have something to fall back on for a while.
Yes, Jean...good for you & well done!! What you feel is a weight lifted from you...the pressure of care-giving and money issues can be crippling...thankfully, perhaps you don't have one of the issues to face any more. :)
I know exactly what you mean. When we did ours with the POA to our daughter and son, I really felt relieved. I've had all of these things on my 'to do' list for the year and when I crossed that off, I felt it was a real acomplishment! You can feel good about yourself. I know I feel good about me and also for you. (smile)
