I'm reading the last chapter of High Noon. I found the first half of the book rather intriguing. I feel I learned quite a bit about agrophobia (sp). It must be just horrible. It seemed that by not insisting on a therapist for Mother, they were enabling her.
Duncan started off as a really cool guy and I liked him a lot but as time went on, the language used for him didn't seem real. To me he didn't seem like a real person. Phoebe started off the same way but as the book progressed she didn't seem like a real person to me either.
However, I did like Dave McVee and Ada. They seemed like a real couple that had their problems and would get them straightened out eventually.
I enjoyed the book, but have read so many others since then that the details have gotten hazy.
I do think that the mother needs therapy. She needs come to the house therapy since she can't go out of the house at this point. The whole point was that they had this wonderful house, but they couldn't sell anything in it, and they couldn't sell the house either, so they had no money. And an in the house therapist costs money.
I didn't have any problems with how Nora Roberts handles her characters. And this is really a mystery with a romance thrown in around it. Both threads are equally important to the story. I like how she handles mysteries. I especially liked how she handled the jog in the plot.
Someone asked if there was a date to start discussing this book. I just went ahead and put in my two cents worth a couple of days ago. I'd sure like to hear other's take on High Noon.
