Hi Nikki, How did you put your picture and comments in your profile? I would like to do that too...I am such a visual person and like to be able to picture the people I am talking to...so thanks for putting in the photo of you and your Lynn. I understand some people want to be anonymous, but for those of us that don't, it's a nice feature.
    Thanks.

Hi shoegirl, I'd be happy to help you with that :)
Up at the top, you see the 4 blue squares, discussions/catergories/search/account

    Go to account

on the left hand side, click on personal information

Scroll down to where you see account picture

where the picture has to have a valid URL, you can't just upload from your pictures
you have to use a website that will transfer it into this format

I use tiny pictures - is very simple! http://tinypic.com/index.php

On tinypictures site, click browse....find photo in your pictures or saved file

Once you select the picture you want.....Click upload now

then just copy the picture link from tinypictures, paste it in the account picture...tada :)
The direct link for layouts is the easiest to use
( but you can use any of them, just make sure the "code" starts with the http)

Once you enter your picture ... make sure to scroll to the bottom and click save.

let me know if you need any other info~Nikki

Well I wish I had more "geekness"..I'm far too electronically challenged..or other wise known as a total D.S. when it comes to electronics. My daughter gave me an iPOD for my birthday..DUH! My 8 year old grandson works his just fine.

I need to look up cut and paste in my Windows for Dummies.

When I was an office manager I freaked when they took the games off all of the office computers. I walked into the Executive VP's office and told him, "Great, another generation of users who can't drag and drop." The games are there to teach basic computer skills. Who cares if they play Solitare on their lunch breaks.

I got no where. I was told it looked bad. ...[sigh]...

It was MY job to make sure that when the two men who worked for me were supposed to work that they were working. I literally did not care if they planed Solitare on their breaks.

Guess what, I've been trying that for a year. (I use tinypic too). I wasn't successful until I found out I had to remove the [IMG] from both ends of the URL.

Be sure it starts with http, and ends with jpg.

Also, I had trouble with sizing. I had to select "thumbnail" size in order for it to post the whole picture.

With tiny pictures, I use the direct link for layouts, but doing what Diana did works fine too!
Nice picture!! I too like to put a visual to people I have come to care about.

You can take an older photo of you that you like, maybe your wedding picture? And scan it into your computer
to use. Or if you don't have a scanner... you can take the picture to any photo place, even walmart, and they
will place it on a disk for you so you can have it on your computer.

How about a lovely passport photo? Now, that's MY fav! I do have a scanner, but that doesn't mean I know how to use the damned thing. I'm quite adept at other things, so don't write me off as a total klutz, but this stuff.....hmmmm.

    Nikki,

Considering I actually do most of the technical work for this website all by myself now, with only help from my son when I need it (like to fix big goof-ups and do the printer friendly thing), it may be hard to believe but...............I couldn't figure out how to put my own picture in that profile.

If it has to come from a website, can't I just make a page on this website with my picture on it, and upload it from that, instead of using the site you mentioned?

Hi Joan, As long as the picture has its own URl, it would work. Some forums I belong to have places for members to upload their photos. But, I am not sure this site is set up for that? Maybe your son would know? Best of luck!

Oh, my goodness. I don't think you want to see what I look like. Just suffice it to say I'm 77 years old, I have grey hair, blue eyes that don't really work. I'm xxxx lbs overweight and have lost 2 inches due to osteoporosis. I've been told I have a pleasant look. There--that's enough.

However, if I ever figure out how to do this, I have a great photo taken of me at our grandson's wedding last year. It was just a beautiful wedding, but, that's another story. :)

Mawsy, New Realm put in a tip up above. Maybe if you try again using tip, it might help. I have the same trouble you do (old, overweight, etc) and a LO with AD. When I get a decent pic of both LO (Bob) & myself, I'll give it a try. Maybe Gikki can help you.

you copy the link supplied by your photo... the easiest to use is the direct link for layouts
just make sure the link starts with http

hope that helped. I need to go do a few things, but will be back later tonight. Good luck!

Mawzy, I looked at the page source for your profile, and you DID copy the URL for the tinypic website, not the URL for your picture itself.

After you "browse" while you're on tinypic to find the picture you like, you still have to upload it, and THEN copy it over here.

I looked at New Realm's profile: her photo is at http://i38.tinypic.com/168fr4h.jpg

I did it! I picked out my picture from our last cruise and went to where Nikki said to go, and went to browse, and clicked, found my picture and clicked, and copied the website, and went to my account and pasted it in the picture section! I saved it, and voila!!!! Yea! Thanks, everyone!

For a computer "Geek" - I tried to get my picture (with my wife) on my profile, using tinypic as Nikki suggested. I followed all the instructions. The picture came out much too big, showing only half of my wife's face. Any suggestions?

Marsh, did you click on thumbnail for size of picture?

I had the same problem the first time I tried to use tinypic. I used a smaller resolution, I think thumbnail, the second time. I also started with a picture that was a low resolution picture. I've used that one as the avatar in other forums in the past.

So try again and try thumbnail and see if it works.

Mawzy, you are not dense! It is something new, and sometimes it takes a few trials
and errors to get it right :)

After you load you picture onto tinypictures

on the left of the photo, you see where it says click to add tags?

Go to the 4th one down......direct link for layouts

    copy

come here and past the http link under account picture

    Hope that helps :)

    Mawzy,

    Try this:

When you upload the photo you want using tinypic.com get the numbers from the "direct link" that Nikki just mentioned. write them down.
Go to your personal info section for your profile and manually type in the full link. If there is an [IMG] on each end of the link delete (backspace to get rid of) the [IMG] at both ends of the link. Then click on save at the bottom of the profile page.

O.K., what the heck am I doing wrong. I uploaded a photo onto tinypic clicked copy, went to my account & pasted. However, when I go back to my account it disappears. I've tried 3 times. It looks like it is pasted successfully, but it doesn't "stick." Any tips as to what I'm doing wrong? I tried the one for message boards, the other one too. I'v never done this before & would really like to learn.
