We live in Florida and until this morning thought we were going to be hit by the storm Fay. It has turned and seems like our Admin is going to get a big part of it on the East Coast. My husband is very high functioning and still drives. Getting ready for tropical storms is something we have done for years since we are both Florida born. This time it was different. He didn't want to get cash, didn't want to fill the car up, didn't want to check for any potential leaks. Laughed it off and said it isn't coming here even tho we had hurricane warnings posted for our area. It is a little unsettling for everyone involved in the community to go through this - the closings of schools, etc, at the last minute. This time, I realized that I have to take charge of the issue of preparing and directing for storms in the future. He will do anything I tell him, but I made the mistake of trying to involve him in the decision making and have a discussion about what needed to be done. Bless his heart, he told me later that I needed to make the decisions and tell him what to do because he knows he doesn't make good decisions. I have been wondering how it has been for others who have been going through this added stress. And, we are sending all of our love, patience and strength to the East Coast so our fearless leader will be safe.

Thank you. We're fine. Lots of rain and flood warnings, street closings due to floods, but we're in the house; the car is in the garage; and the patio furniture is in the living room.

Between now and the next storm, I need to hire someone to put up the hurricane shutters. We didn't need them for this strom, thank goodness. We put them up ourselve two years ago, when we first moved here, but my husband is in no condition physically anymore to even attempt it. He was exhausted from pulling in the patio furniture yesterday.
