    Dear friends,

Let's just ignore the spam. I see that efforts have been made to contact Joan for a USPS address to which donations can be mailed and I just sent a message to the only email address I have for her (joan@thealzheimerspouse.com) about that issue and the spam. I'm hoping that she's celebrating the holidays with family and friends and that one of these messages will reach her.

P.S. In the meantime, please make your donation checks payable to myrtle* and send them to me at "The Hermitage." (Just kidding!)

i agree - ignore them. Doesn't Joan have a moderator watching the site? If so, one person here should have her contact information for when that stuff appears. Evidently it was caught quickly - thank you .

Edit: notice they were not deleted but Wolf brought a bunch of threads up to push them down. Good thinking Wolf.

It's a new set. They get paid for putting them places and you can see no one checks where that is.

There hasn't been a monitor or anyone else running this for quite some time. Joan is leaving it on still.

I'd hate to see this site go down the tubes. I don't know how I would have survived without it when my husband was alive. You all propped me up and enabled me to keep putting one foot in front of the other. The fact that Jim is still donating so long after his tragic loss is a testament to the power of this group and to the good that it has done. Even so, I completely understand not wanting to constantly involve yourself in this site after your spouse has died. Also, I believe there are significant expenses.

Sorry people. I have tried my best to tell Joan what is going on. The site is what kept us early members going. Many of us remain in contact with each other.
  2.
I'm just wondering...just brainstorming here...but if worse comes to worst and this site comes to an end, could we find another Alzheimers site with a discussion forum--and we all just move over there en masse? I mean, the whole group of us just pick up and move to another forum. I don't know of any, but they are probably out there.I would hate to lose the friendships I've formed with this group, and would hate for others not to be able to benefit from the advice and support that this website has offered. We would lose a lot of valuable things like Joan's old blogs, but at least we would still all be together and able to still help people. (And each other.)

Hmmmmm. We do need a plan "just in case." I've got my thinking cap on.

Here is a site for partners and spouses https://www.alzconnected.org/discussion.aspx?g=search&f=151

Thanks, bluedaze*. The location of this "Spouse or Partner Forum" is easy to remember, since it's on a Discussion Board at the Alzheimer's Association website. I hope we will not have to use it, but at least it gives us a place to regroup if the worst happens.

What does it take to administrate a site like this?

Are there a core of us who would be willing to share the duties if Joan is willing to hand them over?

I wanted to post earlier, but the website was down. Remember, if it goes down permanently, we can try to regroup at the Alzheimer's Association's "Spouse or Partner Caregiver Forum." Write it down.?

I joined a site called myAlzteam a while ago. It is made up of caregivers of all kinds. It is sponsored by www.myhealthteams.com. They sponsor many different sites. They might be someone we could contact if it comes to that about a site just for spouses/partners.

I checked and Joan has been posting on her Facebook page. The last was 12/16. She looks good.
