Anyone had experience with this? Lisa always walking and for months now at times appears her back way out and that she is in pain. Last couple of days stiff and leaning way over can hardly stand let alone walk. Tried masseuse today. Her comment she has flaccidity in left lower back. Mussels flaccid as not getting direction from brain to fire. Afraid this is going to be the new norm doesn't appear can do much about it. Any ideas?

I remember this happening near the end. If your wife isn't using a walker, it might help her not to fall. Getting DH in and out of a car was a nightmare - he couldn't seem to "fold" his body to sit. I think that someone once suggested using a sort of table in front of them when they are sitting to keep them upright. Sorry, it's all becoming a blur, as if it never happened. I guess that's a good thing in a way.

Thanks Mary she has been able to walk up until now and thinking maybe ability will come back if back can get straighten out. Problem is learning how to use a walker think she is beyond that. Will just have to see what unfolds over next few days.

This is not an uncommon development. The nerves are misfiring or not firing, and balance is haywire because of visual and vestibular impairment. I saw this not only in my husband, but also in a number of patients who were still ambulatory in the LTC unit he was in.

It might come and go, but sadly is a symptom of worsening brain deterioration and will lead to an inability to walk. I'm truly sorry, Rona.
