There are two main reasons for this post. One is to honor my husband; today is the fifth anniversary of his death. The other is to express my profound gratitude to everyone I knew on this site. Once I posted that being a part of this community was like "sitting in the middle of a wisdom circle". Another time I said that the posters here were "my antidote to crazy town".

I'm guessing that most current posters don't know me. My husband had FTD and was 52 when he died. My initial post was in December 2011 and my last was in December 2015.

There is no specific reason why my last post was my last. I had begun a relationship which was my first since the death. (Yes, it took me 3.5 years.) It was wonderful to again feel enthusiastic about someone and something. It had been so long. It is likely that I could not emotionally reconcile those feelings with continuing to post here.

Much about me remains the same. I still practice yoga, study Buddhism and am vegetarian. My location is still a large city in the western, but not coastal, area of the US. I work as a freelance editor from home.

The compassion, understanding, knowledge and may I say "love" extended to me by the posters here validated me. I don't have adequate words to express my feelings. So many, too many to name...you were my lifeline.

To say "thank you" is not nearly enough, but it is all I have.

I don't remember the name, but happy to see that you are surviving & living life once again (altered though, I'm sure)

    abby,
I'm fairly certain I remember seeing some of your posts. I agree with everything you said about this site and the people here. Your experience gives me hope that one day there will be a life after alzheimers. I think it's a beautiful tribute to your husband to remember him in this way. No matter where life takes you, he and your memories of him, will always be precious and dear to your heart.

Abby, I remember you and all that you went through. You lived a very terrifying experience. It was from you that I learned to keep my cell phone and car keys with me at all times.

I am so very happy for you in your new life and so glad you reached out to say hello. Take good care.
