I wanted to update things! My DH has overcome his renal failure and excessively high blood sugars. I thought hospice would be in the picture but he has improved wonderfully. The nsg home is being very diligent since I turned them in to the state. I see my DH every day. I did go on avacation to Italy this month, something I have wanted my whole life,. My two older grandchildren went with me,. It was beautiful, I'm so glad I went now. I doubt I could do all that walking and climbing hills if I'm much older . i enjoyed it so and DH never wanted To there. I am wanting to move to a town 25 miles from here. My dtr lives there and I want to be closer. I'm wondering how it would affect David to move. . He is doingsowell!

Hello, Kentucky caregiver--nice to hear how everything is going. I went to Italy with DH back in 1996--I was really just riding shotgun--I wasn't much interested in Italy. Boy, was I ever blown away--just fell in love with the place! I never saw so much history and so much beauty in my life--plus the wonderful food. I came back saying that everyone should go to Italy once in their life. It is a must see--whether you're Italian or not.

Have you researched facilities in the area you want to move to? I suppose it's a given that it will make him more confused, at least in the beginning, but if there are nice places (or a nice place), you might want to get him on the waiting list while you look into where you might live. At least with your daughter living there, she can steer you toward the best neighborhoods for you, etc.

Dee ....... Glad to hear you are having some fun in spite of all the
problems with your Dear Husband. I hope your move to your daughters
town goes well. It's great that you have a nice caring family to be with.

I actually haven't made plans to move! He is doing so well and I'm afraid it will not work out! I've checked out a couple places but not sure when or if I can get him in!

Hang in there KY, you will know when the time is right to contemplate moving.
Great news about your husbands' health, I am suprised that he has improved so much (he was very ill)
but it must be such a relief to see him doing so well.
Enjoy the good moments for now, all the best KY.

Ky caregiver, I am so glad your husband is feeling better and that you made the decision about where to live. I can understand your wish to be closer to your daughter and your sweet grandson and I wish you the best in finding a good nursing home for your husband in that area. Please let us know how it all works out.
