Just saw an ad for this on tv. It wanted me to feel all warm and fuzzy and caregivery. What I actually felt is annoyed and cynical, because all this is, is Aricept and Namenda combined in one pill.
Of course, you can get Aricept and Namenda both in generics, for much lower cost.
This is similar to when they "invented" Aricept 27mg, and convinced prescribers to prescribe this "new" formulation, for stupid-high namebrand prices, instead of 25mg of generic Aricept. (which is what I insisted on, at the time. I remember the NP chuckling slightly, and nodding, because she knew it was a scam too.)
You know, if your LO is on this possibly very expensive drug, you can get generic equivalents for much less.
And to make matters worse, it does little, if anything, to help even the symptoms of AD, and nothing to stop the progression. The only winner is the drug company for selling an expensive, useless medication.
I think its unanimous, those commercials are a monumental waste of time and money. Since we're being honest here, I also hate how they make the people in the commercial seem so happy and stress free, when all of us here know that dealing with Alzheimer's is anything but! My two cents...
