We had a new granddaughter this week. She make it even 3 girls and three boys. Our son has one girl and two boys. Our daughter now has two girls and one boy. She is already within in four pounds of her pre-pregnancy weight and can button her regular jeans. (That part never happened to me.) The baby is blue-eyed, blond and the sweetest little thing you ever saw.
Oh, how fun for you. And, ya' know, I'll bet she is just beautiful!! (smile) Enjoy her. And her mother--4 lbs to lose? That didn't happen to me either. Lucky her! Blessings on all of them.
Congratulations!! Grandchildren are our gifts for not choking our teenages to death. I have 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters and they are the light of my life. Enjoy your new baby girl for she will be grown before you know it. My oldest grandchild leaves for college this weekend, he is going to Michigan State on a baseball scholarship and we are all soooooo proud of him - but where did the years go??
I met my first grandchild when she was 1 1/2 years old. She is 9 1/2 now. My son adopted her when she was 5 because she wanted to have the same last name as her brothers. She has been my special gardener and weed puller since she was 2 1/2. I am very close to her. In the beginning, she would not call me "grandma" because she would tell us that she already had a grandma. It took some time for her to adjust to another family. Now we are all hers and she is all ours. My next two were her brothers age 7 and almost 5. Then we received our oldest who is 11. When he was 4 1/2, our daughter married his father. They now also have the two little girls who are 4 1/2 and 3 days. All are so special in their own way.
My Granddaughter just turned 2 a week ago. My son is military, so they lived across country when Natalie, my first and only grandchild was born. I went to visit when she was 10 days old (their home was FULL of DIL's relatives so I held off a bit). Then I didn't see her til her 1st birthday. Son was transferred here last week and I saw him just a couple days here and there. Now he's being deployed Monday to his Carrier, but DIL and the baby will live with me til their apartment becomes available mid October. I'm very happy to have them here with me, but just feel down in the dumps that I broke a bone in my foot (no running around for a bit), and that I am fairly housebound unless I take DH almost everywhere I go. Not exactly happy-go-lucky, relaxed, free-spirited fun.
My grandson is the love of my life. And my joy. He is now 7. We moved from California to the East so we could see him regularly. It was the best decision I ever made.
Congrats on the new babies....aren't they grand! I have four grandsons...the oldest will be 9 next month, his brother was 4 last month and I have a set of twin grandsons who will be 4 in November....not a girl in sight...LOL!
Congrats on the new grandbaby. What a thrill. My grandchildren have been the biggest joy of my life. I have always said I was the luckist grandmother in the world. Two grandsons and twin granddaughters. So great for you to have some real joy in your life at this time.
Aren't g-kids the greatest? I have a girl who is 9. She is becoming my best friend lol. My g-son is 2 and such a sweetheart. They certainly are a bright spot in my life.
We have 9 grandsons--1 grand daughter. She's 20 now, a jr. in college. She's my shopping buddy. She likes to pick out 'just the right thing' for grandma to wear to a special occasion. Naturally, I always ask her if she needs anything to augment her wardrobe for college. Last week she helped me buy a new top to wear to my 60th HS reunion. She received the 'cutest' sweater set and a nice winter jacket.
The boys? Love them dearly. They don't like to go shopping with me. They like to go to the lake with me so they can show off their swimming skills. 3 oldest gsons are married--I love their wives and their wives write to me quite often.
Grand children are a real treat. They are the reward we get for raising those teenagers.
Enjoy your new baby. I'm happy for you. Wish we had a new one, but, sigh, none in sight. I'm envious of you!!
We became grandparents for the first time, last Wednesday, August 6. Our daughter-in-law had a 7lb 5 oz boy. My wife had understood that she was going to have a baby and is happy to see him when we visit.
