My sweet husband is back at nsg home. After ten days he continues to sleep all the time! He will wake up for a bit to eat then is back out again. Vitals signs normal. I wish I had a playbook here. What to expect? He says he feels fine, no pain. ???????????

So sorry for you and I hope you and DH get some relief. Sorry no experience to share that would be helpful. This disease is horrible. Wish I had more to offer.

I know from what others here have posted over the years, this is a common part of the progression. On days my husband doesn't go to day care he sleeps 12 hours or more. I really don't know if he is asleep all the time or just lays there with his eyes closed. Then he falls asleep in the chair. I guess when you can't remember anything, have nothing to do what else is there besides sleep.

I'm thinking of you, Ky caregiver.

Yes he sleeps at least 12 hrs at nite. Then about all day. I'm thankful he doesn't seem to be in pain. He's still very strong, and has great appetite.

I think I would take the sleeping over being awake almost all day and night. Some have had spouses that may go through the sleeping most of the time to being awake most of the time. Others have just the being awake and pacing most of the time.

Ky,do you think that it could just be sheer exhaustion from all that he has been through lately? It is good that he is not in pain and able to eat when he wants to. All you can do is watch and wait and I do know how stressful that is for you. I wish you strength and peace as you continue on this arduous journey.

Ky caregiver, Good to hear than you are finding a bit of comfort in knowing that he is not in pain nor ranting. Although DH has been gone for three months now, I remember the anxiety and torture my mind went through. He went downhill and rebounded a number of times. I began to realize that I was not in charge. You are strong and are doing all you can do. Keep the faith and I hope you are getting your needed rest. Take care.
