Friday we are flying to Seattle with my daughter and her family and taking a cruise to Alaska. We had done it years ago, but this time we will do it with out grandies. Wish me luck. anyway, I recall a discussion where mention was made of carrying cards stating that the person with us is memory impaired. I was looking for it now bit cannot find it, and wondered if someone remembers what it said on the cards. thanks.

The person with me is memory impaired. Please be considerate.

I called the Alzheimer Organization in my area and they sent me a few of them right away.

Chris, did you get a copy of the letter Baltobob had for the airport security? It saved us time at the airport. It was signed by his doctor stating that he had AD and had aphysia (can't talk much) and would need me beside him during the check-in and getting through security.

    Chris,
You won't have time to get the cards from the Alzheimer's Association, but you can make up your own - My companion has Alzheimer's Disease. Communication and understanding is difficult. Please be patient.

Below is the travel letter baltobob shared with us.

    Department of Neurology
    Phipps 126 Neurology,
    600 North Wolfe Street
    Baltimore, MD 21287

    To Whom It May Concern:

Mrs. “Jones” is under my professional care in the Neurology Department of Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has been diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia. Due to this dementia, she has considerable difficulty expressing herself and may not be able to understand and follow directions. She may become confused in unfamiliar situations. She functions well with the assistance of her husband, “John Jones”. It is important that they not be separated as she depends upon him for direction and guidance.

Any special consideration that can be extended such as pre-boarding or understanding during the screening process will be helpful.

    Sincerely,
    Argye Elizabeth Hillis, MD

Thank you for listing that letter. I am not going any place right now, but who knows I might need it some day so I copied and pasted it for the future. You are always so helpful Joan.
