DH has very bad nights. He is always trying to get somewhere or fix something. In these dreams he gets lost and can't find his way or the person he was with and if he does find them his arms will go right through them. He also is unable to fix things. He will, in his dream, reach for an item but his hand will go right through it. He wakes in the morning exhausted and stressed.
In the past he had terrible nightmares and would curse and sweare and through things like lamps etc. I had to be careful going into his room to comfort him as he was standing up ready to fight. Sometimes he was on his knees on the floor. The staff have had to go to him to calm him down at night and have found him in the floor. His bed is at the lowest level so no hurting himself.
These dreams are so upsetting for him.
Anyone else's partner have this kind of nightmares?

Could it be a side effect of one of the medications he's on?

No . This started as one of the first visible symptoms of the dementia. The meds came later to try to smooth out his nights. Nothing's seems to stop them. It is like a PTSD from his military days but we can't prove it.They are not near as bad as they were before.
