I'm planning to appoint an in-home caregiver for my wife. Juz came to know that the Prestige Care Inc has earned a deficiency-free survey from the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). I wold like to know how much do they usually quote to hire a caregiver from their agency? Is it too expensive? Are there any criteria that the person should have any minimum income? Any idea?
I'm sorry ferrariyoung, I am in Canada so I don't have any firsthand knowledge to offer you, hopefully others here that are in closer proximity can give you some information...I believe you are a new member...welcome to our group, you will find a wealth of knowledge on so many different topics and situations from the members here
I live in Washington State on the Olympic Penninsula. If you are near a Home Instead agency, they are very fine and reliable. I think they have a minimum of 4 hour shifts at 23 or 24$ per hour. Most of the agencies I've dealt with are good. You just meed to be sure they do not have high turnover. Home Instead is the best. But there are now co-op home care agencies with very good people that can be more flexible in hours and charge $25. That is pretty much the standard hourly rate in our area near Port Townsend. Good Luck Diane
Welcome to my website. You will find very helpful information concerning hiring a caregiver on my home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com. One of our members compiled a comprehensive list of what to look for and questions to ask when hiring a caregiver. You can find it on the left side of the home page under "navigation ". The topic is "questions to ask when hiring a caregiver".
I am in Canada as well. I have a caregiver (male) from Nurse Next Door. The care giver comes 2x a week for 2.5 hours each time. It is NOT enough time but too expensive almost $32.0 an hour. It still feels like I am on a time leash. The time out now is for groceries , banking and errands. So time goes by quickly. One still comes home to the same situation
I used to feel just like that. Five hours a week just isn't enough. I'm from the St Lawrence River area of Ontario. DH now in long term care so I have more time for me and I sleep well at night but it is lonely.
Sadness, have you checked with the government resource in your area to see what you qualify for? In Ontario that is run by the CCAC which provided me with some help.
Here is a document that shows each province and the contact information for that province. Hope it helps.
