A time to laugh.... A time to cry....A time to live....A time to die....A time for this or a time for that. Many, many song writers have written songs about this and they all have different ideas about the ever changing times we pass through in our lives.
I became attached to this website where caregivers of spouses with dementia diseases can share stories and support each other. There are very few stories of happy times told on this site. It's mostly stories of the time for placement. The time for hospice. The time to grieve. The time to cry. The time to die.....etc..
I personally went through these bad times for ten years and now........three years after my Dear Helen passed, I'm over the last bad time which was the time for grieving and I'm ready for some good times.
I'm still attached to this website and share the bad times of my wonderful caregiving friends, here but I just want to say that for me, it didn't last forever.
Now, my time to laugh is when I get up in the morning and look into the mirror. My time to cry is when there's no more candy for me to eat.
George, I think it's wonderful that you are ready for the good times! It's inspiring and gives hope to the rest of us that there is a life afterwards that can be fulfilling and as simple as having some of our favorite candy to eat! :) I've read many of your postings and I always enjoy them. I love that people on this site continue to share and contribute even after they have lost their loved one and are trying to continue on with life.
While there are challenging things going on in my life, there are good things as well. I became a grandmother for the first time to twin boys in August and my other stepdaughter got engaged to a wonderful man in October. Thank you for reminding us to celebrate what is good. We all need that in our lives.
Sass..........My favorite candy is the Abba-zabba bar. I liked them as a little kid and they're still my favorite. They were very popular 90 years ago but the only place I can get them now in Sothern Calif, is the Smart And Final store.
They are difficult to eat because they are very tough and brittle. It helps to sit on them a while to soften them up.
Ok, George, I have to tell you that last sentence made me laugh out loud! I have never heard of that candy, but you and I are from a different era. I will ask my dad if he is familiar with it. He is 85 and might know.
I'll leave you with this parting thought, may you wake each morning, look at yourself in the mirror and be thankful and may you never run out of Abba-Zabba bars that are the right state of softness... however you get them that way. :)
I googled them and once I saw the picture I recognized them. I would not have liked them cause I don't like taffy or candy that sticks to my teeth. There appears to he a number of places online to buy them.
