    Hello Everyone,

I invite you to log onto the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com - for important information on what has been going on behind the scenes here at the website, and the changes that will occur. I thank you in advance for your patience as my computer expert Matt and I take on a new challenge. All of this will be happening while I try to heal from Sid's death, as well pack, clean, shred, and plop from exhaustion in trying to be ready for my big move on Monday.

    Joan,

Good luck with your move on Monday. I hope you can relax and enjoy your new home.
You sure deserve some calm and pleasant hours of doing nothing.

Yes, Happy New House, Joan. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. (My uncle used to say that three moves equalled a fire. Ha-ha.)

Joan, Enjoy! Sitting at the pool by day and going to a new house at night proves there is a new life ahead.

I'm in! I sold all of my furniture because the house I am leasing is fully furnished. I kept Sid's Stressless chair and my office furniture. Those items, 103 boxes, and 6 hours later, the movers left. Supervising, standing, walking back and forth, pushing things around, and last minute packing, left me with pain in every muscle, joint, and bone in my body. My back is so bad that I can hardly stand up.

But even with all of the physical pain, a couple of hours in the new place, and a sense of peace, and dare I say- happiness came over me. Side's ashes and his picture are on my dresser watching over me, but there are no bad memories here like there were in the other place. I was well aware of how depressed that place was making me, but I didn't realize the extent to which I was being destroyed until I moved here. My patio looks out over trees, the decor in the condo is bright, Floridian, and peaceful. Best of all, there are no bad memories surrounding me.

I'm pretty sure that I made the correct decisioN Matt is coming on Saturday to upgrade my system and teach me new software that will streamline my web designing.

If your Stressless chair is what I am thinking of I am glad you kept it. My wife has one and it is the most comfortable piece of furniture we ever owned.

Enjoy your new home. I am sure all of the hard work of the past few weeks will pay off.
  3.
God bless you and your new home.

    Paul,

Yes, there is only one brand called Stressless. I remember when we bought it. We were trying every chair in the store, and Sid was ecstatic sitting in it. When I saw the price ( double the most expensive chair), I tried to talk him out of it. Then I sat in it. We bought it on the spot. It was always "Sid's chair". No one else was allowed to sit in it while he was in the room. All good memories attached to that chair, and I know he would want me to keep it. It's almost like having him here in the room - the pre-Alzheimer, loving Sid. It's a comfort to me.

There's a good discussion on bogleheads.org titled "Stressless Recliners". I think you can just google Bogleheads and Stressless Recliners, and it should get you there. Or go on Bogleheads.org and search the term.

    Joan,

So glad the move is complete. Sorry your back is aching, but glad you are having a "happy feeling" in
    your new home.

    Rest up, regroup, and enjoy.

Joan, Perhaps, all of the things that are happening now are being guided by your beloved Sid from the afterlife to help you. That wait one year thing is good advice, but when things happen that work out for your good, take it. I think you will look back and not regret doing this move at all. Also changing the website has filled in time that could have been very bad. I have felt many times like I am just being steered along in all of this and someday may have a 20-20 vision of why. All of us caught up in this awful Alzheimer's tribulation (for lack of better word) are much stronger than we think. Take care of yourself first and then the rest of it. We all love you.

    dorieIMI,

I absolutely believe that Sid is looking out for me because of the way things happened. Ralph, my real estate agent, saw this condo on MLS. He contacted the listing agent, whom he knows quite well. She told him that it was already under lease contract, but the owner was having second thoughts about the tenants. She called him back a few days later, right at the time I called him, and she told him that the deal fell through, and the condo was available. He called me, and the rest is history. I knew as soon as I walked in that this was the perfect place for me. After that, everything started to fall into place, one, two, three. My sister said to me - "Someone is looking out for you." Who else, but the one person in the world whose main goal in life was to make me happy, but my Sid.

Your plans sound awesome Joan. Good for you. I especially loved the visual of you taking a vacation at the pool.
