My life has taken a wonderful change. An old friend has come back into my life. We have known each other for years. I actually knew him before I knew my DH. It has been kind of a fast connection. We have a lot of things in common. He has been through several relationships but has been with no one for the last seven years. He has always been in DH and my life A very trusted friend by both of us. I believe if DH was aware, this friend would approve of by him to take care of me. It happened very fast but I feel at our age we want to enjoy life while we still can. I am looking forward to many happy days. We are together because of our history and want a long and happy companionship.
any thoughts from all of you?

All I can say is to each their own. I'm not sure that I could do that personally, but then again I haven't been presented with the opportunity!! :) I can understand wanting some kind of joy in life & if it suits you, so be it.

Mkayeb, I say "Congratulations". Anyone who has ever been, or still is, an ALZ caregiver deserves personal happiness. I have forgotten what it was like to share my life with a companion. I am happy that you are moving forward and enjoying your life. Enjoy.

Thank you everyone! For all of you who haven't followed me, I don't post very often. My DH is in a nursing home 157 miles from me. I go to see him as often as I can. I saw him last Friday, fed him his lunch and stayed for an hour and a half. He is in a wheelchair says a few words now and then and does not know who I am. With that distance I don't go as often as I would like but go when I can. When winter comes the visits will be even less. So thank you all again for the support and it is so wonderful to have someone to share my life with. I'm as giddy as a teenager!

    mkayeb,

I'm glad to hear that you got to visit your husband last week. Hopefully, you are continuing to heal from the surgery.

You certainly deserve to find some happiness - a bonus that he is someone you and your husband have known for many years.

Sending my very best wishes to you.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been working miracles here in getting ready to move. In 3 weeks, I have managed to hire people to completely clean out my "storage wars" garage, cleaned out and shredded 6 file cabinets full of 17 years worth of paperwork all by myself, cleaned out all of our dresser drawers, sold all of my furniture to a consignment shop, and packed up 60-70% of everything. Looking forward to moving to an active community has eased my additional depression that came over me from living in acommunity of very elderly, infirm people. The grief from Sid's death was bad enough, but living here was destroying me.

I have been totally devoted to this moving project, which is why I have been absent from the website. Once I am moved into my new condo, and I am settled, I will return to working on the site. But for now, I am only able to check in and say hi.

mkayeb, I wish you and your friend many years of happiness together. Friendship and companionship are so necessary for our well being.

joan, good for you! I'm awed by your accomplishments in getting everything organized and cleaned out for your move. Congratulations on the hard work. I'm sure the new home and environment will be good for you.

Mkaybe ....as another person that has found someone new to share my life...I say you are entitled to a second chance at happiness and life does go on after this horrible disease. Live it well! ☺️

Joan... Moving one of my most dislike thing to do because, like with what you are doing, all the sorting, cleaning and throwing out and packing. But once it is done I believe this will be a wonderful change for you. You deserve it.
