My husband just got his results back. He had blood in his urine. Anyone have any knowledge about this kind of UTI result?

Group B streptococcus (strep) is a common bacterium often carried in your intestines or lower genital tract. Group B strep is usually harmless in adults.

Group B strep can also cause dangerous infections in adults with certain chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes or liver disease. Older adults are at increased risk of illness due to group B strep, too.

If you're a healthy adult, there's nothing you need to do about group B strep.

I had an infection on my inner thighs for a few years until I finally got insurance. It was diagnosed and treated with antibiotic. It was the same type. I think it is they type that women have to be checked for before delivery because if it is active it can cause blindness.

Since it is present in the genital tract, a compromised immune system will allow it to grow. Sounds like his found conditions perfect to flare up.

People do not realize we have many different bacteria living in our bodies. Normally they do not make us ill but when our immune systems are compromised or the right circumstances are set up - they can affect us. Besides strep, e-coli also lives in our gut. One time when I was researching strep throat, it said that most of us will have it but we don't realize it. Our bodies will fight it off before it gets full blown.

Circumstances were right for it to flair up in your husband and hopefully a dose of antibiotics will take care of it.
