Our 22nd anniversary is the 14th of this month. My first real one without him. A few recent ones I was already without him except he was still physically here. I know you all know what I mean.

Yes, our wedding anniversary was June 18. Like you said Aunt B., this is the first "real" one without him. But it isn't really significant to me, because he hadn't been "there" for a number of years. I just look back with a smile, and take an extra glance at our wedding photo on the dresser.

My birthday is June 30. It's always just another day for me.

Hi Elaine. I've been thinking about your post for a couple of days, wondering if I should say something or not…but I'm going to say something. (Long, deep breath here, and I hope I'm not going to sound bossy or buttinsky…). The day you were born is not "just another day." You are a special, unique person…one of a kind. And I think you should honor yourself by doing something special for yourself on your birthday. I know we are all on this forum because we are going through rough times, but still…you should have at least a little happiness and joy on your birthday, even if you are just providing a new type of herbal tea for yourself to have in a fancy cup, or picking up one slice of a delicious cake at the bakery, or buying yourself a new lip gloss or wild-colored hair bungee…whatever. Or downloading an engrossing mystery for your Kindle. Something small is fine, but something pleasant and meaningful for you. If you are one of the Alzheimer's warriors on this website, you deserve it…and your birthday should encompass at least a rainbow or two, and some wild butterflies landing on your shoulder on the 30th. : D

Elaine, just checking in a day early to wish you a Happy Birthday tomorrow. Wish we were closer to get the group together for tea and a piece of cake...(yes, online relationships have some drawbacks!...ha,ha.) Blessings on your special day.
