Finally got Sonny's Dr. to give me a prescription for Marinol. Had to practically twist his arrrrrm to get it. Hope it will help improve Sonny's everyday life. The nurses at the LTC facility were hoping we would get it,they are anxious to see if it helps, then they could request it for others there.Keep ypur fingers crossed it will help with improvements.
1st week on Marinol- Sonny is talking a little bit. A few complete sentences, has answered my questions a couple of times. He does seem much more tired since he started on it and has less appetite(he is usually a very big eater). He usually goes to bed later than the others in his hall so the aides spend more time with him then and they tell me he is much more alert and talks to them and laughs a lot.I am praying he will continue to be more reactive as he is on the Marinol longer. The Dr. agreed to a 3 monthe trial. Insurance does not cover the $400. cost, but if it helps I will appeal, otherwise I will come up with the money somehow.
