DH has started sleeping in the daytime and staying awake at night. He has bad nightmares when he cones to spend the night at our home and has none if this kind at the LTC. Is this part of the disease?

Jazzy, It might be a good idea to have Kevan spend every night at the LTC, and no nights at your home. As you know, structure, routine, and consistency provide the most comforting environment for people with dementia. The problem might be that spending some nights at your new home has upset his routine.

I agree with myrtle...perhaps slping in your new home is unsettling to Kevan.

It is not uncommon for people with dementia to switch their sleeping patterns as the lose functions in different parts of their brains. I also found that the meds used to calm DH's agitation were also putting him to sleep during the day and he was not sleeping a night. Many nights of little to no sleep were exhausting for me and our live-in aide.

Poor bugger. If he doesn't have them at the facility, perhaps the kindest thing would be to not have overnights at your house. ((Jazzy))

I have not had this particular experience yet, but the above suggestions seem to make perfecr sense to me.

Dan sleeps pretty well through the night & now is sleeping in late (12:30 pm). It's going on 4:00 pm now & he's falling asleep in the recliner! Changes.....
