Nikki, Don't laugh at me...but when I want my ice cream or a delicious yougurt to last longer I use a baby spoon that is coated with silicone. I first got a couple to dish up smaller amounts of soft cat food for one slightly lazy cat...then decided to get one for myself while trying to cut down on the ice cream treat but to make it last longer...that might work too. They come with colors too...so I never get the spoons mixed up....that might be something to make him a bit curious,..he could lick it like a popcicle or something...try getting some pudding he likes and you join him with a licking type thing and when he sees it doesn't hurt you at all and there is something yummy on the end....he might just start going for a little spoon like that..
Yes Fiona.... I say all the time that I not only believe in miracles, I rely on them. Thank you for thinking of Lynn and I ((hugs))
Mimi*, I would never laugh at you! And it seems great minds think alike :) I was telling DIvvi that we switched to the coated baby spoons about a year ago. The coated spoons at the facility were just too big for him. They have the baby spoons that even change color for hot and cold foods.
He is perking up more and more each week. My niece came to visit with me today, it was the best day he has had in three months. He was talking, full of smiles, very affectionate....but still just not himself. No laughing, story telling or building etc, but still far better than he was even 3 weeks ago!
On the ride home she said to me "Do you remember when a day like today would have been a miracle for Uncle Lynn? Remember when he wouldn't or couldn't even make eye contact with us?" Of course, I did.. one never forgets. This led to a whole two hour conversation about how many times Lynn has astounded us, and his doctors. We talked about the frog poster I had made to put on his door (the one in my profile) about how that picture hung on our refrigerator for 20+years and why it had always meant so much to Lynn. It says, "Never Give Up!" ... and she simply said "I guess it still means something to him!". Yes, I guess it does indeed! ♥
Nikki, so glad you and Lynn had a wonderful day yesterday. You both deserve it. You and Lynn are remarkable people and I wish as we head into this season of miracles, there's one headed your way.
