Very stressful weekend coming up. 3 hour drive, not able to stop at rest rooms because dw can't go by herself. Staying 2 nights in a motel. My worries, dw does not wake up to use the bathroom any more, mainly just urine though. I have bedliners for home but am stressed about the motel bed. I have chucks, depends and pads but she soaks right through them.
Any suggestions (besides staying home) would be appreciated. If it were not for it being her sons wedding, we would not be making the trip.
  1.
IF the bed gets wet so be it. I am sure that motels/hotels are accustomed to dealing with fluids on the beds. Most of them have a waterproof pad over the mattress. When I have to travel to doctors out of state I take the chucks and also the new overnite pads for kids. I put the overnite pad under the sheet and the chuck on top of the sheeT. duck take will hold the chuck in place and not damage the bedding. Also use the liner pad inside the depends. yous could also tape a couple of bath towels under and around the chuck that is on the top sheet. Hope the trip goes well.

ronnyd, I have mentioned this before on other topics. For my wife I use "Tranquility Overnight" underwear with a booster pad. This holds up to 44 ounces of urine. With that she seldom had a wet bed, but the "overnight" was full. You can get this on-line at "The Alzheimer Store". One advantage of this is that I don't have to be in a wet bed.

ronny, can you go into the women's rest room with her? Since women's rooms have stalls they offer more privacy. You could ask a woman going into the restroom if she would stand guard while you assist your wife (explain the situation). Most people would be happy to help. If that doesn't work, I suggest getting the sani pants which are plastic and fit over the depends to help prevent leaks. I'd also take along a few of the washable bedliners for the motel bed to keep it from getting soaked. Someone here also mentioned that they use a clear plastic shower curtain liner under their sheets to protect the mattress. That would be an inexpensive way to protect the motel mattress and you could toss it when you're ready to come home. They are usually no more than $5-$10 and sometimes less if you find them on sale.

Hope some of these suggestions work for you. I'll check walmart/target for the quilted bedliners. I got mine from amazon, but you don't have time for the shipping.

Hopefully all will go well and enjoy your son's wedding.

ps walmart has the "Inspire washable and reusable absorbent underpad 30" x 34" " which looks like it's available in stores. Go to the walmart website and search for the underpad and see if your local store carries it.

When we stay in a motel I take my own queen size plastic cover and put it on the bed under the sheet-lots of chucks over the sheet-then before we leave I take my mattress cover off for the next trip. The covers are not expensive ,never thought of the shower curtain liners you can get those at the Dollar Stores etc for very little.

Thank you all very much for the suggestions. I am very appreciative. I probably will try to drive 3 hours nonstop. Traveling really is a big stress factor for us all, isn't it. My heart hurts for her, I know you all understand.
Again thanks to all of you.
