    Just heard about this today and googled it. Could this possibly be a way to diagnose AD in it's earliest stages?

    Yep, just took the test, I passed. I would have my dh smell it, but he doesn't know the names of foods, so he couldn't tell me what it is.

    Well my DH loves peanut butter and will sniff it to enjoy the fragrance of the peanuts. He has Alzheimer's. So much for the sniff test with him.

    DH had no sense of smell when I married him 28 years ago. He couldn't taste either. He put red hot pepper on everything. Guess I should have paid attention to that clue. Towards the end he only wanted sweet things and ice cream. Crazy darn disease, isn't it?

    my understanding it was not smelling the PB they looked at but how close it had to get to the left nostril before they smelled it.

    scares the beejeebies out of you if you have allergy or sinus issues! :)
