Jazzy, if you go to ring's account page, you will see a picture of her. I have posted a picture of myself with my hubby on my account page. It should help. My hair is dark blonde, and very short. I am also short and wear glasses. Hope that helps.
Coco, I hope you enjoy Vancouver - its a beautiful city and you deserve a break right now! {{hugs}}
Nikki, I guess we will be fitting right in with the white haired set, since we are meeting for lunch at 11 AM ! :-). I am really hoping that this can be the first of many such luncheons - I need some face to face contact with people who "get it".
I am going to try my hardest to meet up with Mary and Coco would really like to do it.
Coco- Mary has my email so when you know for sure the dates either let her know or email me. It'll depend where hubby is and what I can arrange for care. I'm a few hours away but I'll give it my best.
Amber if you read this, if all goes as planned I will be in Vancouver around lunchtime on July 18th, and spend the day and night. I was hoping to get together in the afternoon or early evening. I will keep Mary updated and hope you can meet us with us too. I know it is hard as you are far away. Most of my trip will be spent close to White Rock with my Mom.
So happy that all of you ladies are going to be able to meet. I know from first hand experience it is really nice meeting friends from here. I have gotten together with lmohr* & bak twice & hope to again maybe this fall.
Julia, I know from experience how difficult it is to get from where you are to where we are - 36 hours and a logistical nightmare! Anyway, I am sure that when ring, Jazzy and I get together next Tuesday we will be thinking of all of you- thank you for your well wishes!
Hi Coco and Mary - right now hubby is being placed on a priority wait list for the veterans hospital in Burnaby. If he is placed before the 18th then I will more than likely be down then. What a zoo I've just gone through getting him the services he needs but so far it looks like it might turn out OK. It's all about money and which one is going to pay for his care....veterans affairs or interior health. Do they not get it that the money all comes from the same place, we the tax payers!
Yes Abby Vancouver B.C. I grew up in that area south of there, out in the country. (well it used to be country) Moved to Hawaii in 1980, a wild and crazy free spirited 25 year old.
ladies if its any help you can checkin at the hostess seating and they will seat you all at the same table as you arrive. that way no looking for your party! just checkin and say you are part of joans group or something! good luck, I know you will enjoy the lunching.
Ring, I just went back and looked at some previous posts, and this is what you had written:
"Ok Jazzy, it looks like a GO for Kristy's on Richmond Rd., Tuesday June 25th at 11 a.m. I'm really looking forward to meeting you and bqd." So, I was planning to try to get to Kristy's for 11, barring any traffic delays after I drop hubby off at daughter's for the day. I'm sure we won't have any difficulty finding each other, but that is a good suggestion, divvi!
Amber, I am so glad to hear that it looks like you will get your DH placed at the Vet's hospital! The fight over money is between the province (Interior health) and federal (Vet's affairs). I agree, taxes IS taxes, so government, just make it happen!
Thank you ring and Jazzy for such an enjoyable lunch. Food was great, and the conversation was everything that I was hoping for. Although our situations are all different, and we are all coping with things as best we can for our situations, it was interesting to hear just how many things we have in common when dealing with our LO's. And I haven't laughed that much in a long time.
I am hoping that it will not be too long before we get a chance to do it again!
Thanks for the lovely time, ladies. We sure did have a few good laughs and yes the food was great. Two had desert one was a good girl! LOL I wonder who it was?? Next time we should try some where in between all of us!! Maybe Perth.there are some nice places there.
I had a good time too. So good to be able to talk honestly and know that the listener(s) "get it". Count me in for another time wherever it is. And thank you for the rose - very special.
Since ring mentioned the rose, I will let everyone know that Jazzy brought a rose for ring and for myself, because our DH's can't perform this little gesture of affection anymore. To paraphrase Jazzy, the roses weren't from her, they were from our LO's. It was very thoughtful. Its been a VERY long time since my DH bought me flowers.
And, ring had also been planning to get us some flowers! I know that you got talked out of it, ring, but the thought was there! I was too busy trying to get my DH out the door and to my DD's so that I would not be late for lunch to even have the thought of flowers cross my mind!
When you have a penus you don't get flowers. Apparently flowers only make you happy if you have a Regina or a Virginia or something. I asked my mother about this. She explained women don't give men flowers. "Why, are they retarded?" I asked wanting more information because you would think everyone likes flowers. Nope. Just check your pants. If it's an outy you don't get flowers. If it's an inny you do.
I think men would be more interested in gardening if they got flowers once in a while. Who cares nobody asked me.
Glad you had a fine lunch ladies. Who's bringing me the beavertail?
I think women should give flowers to men if they want. I always gave them to my DH and he loved it. Look where it got me. Yes, I know , it's the disease!!
I'm happy to hear that we all enjoyed our lunch. It's a good thing I left when I did as I got caught in the bad storm just south of the city. Cars pulled over because of the heavy rain and winds and big thunder and lightning show. I made it home ten minutes before DH arrived from Day Care.
Beaver tails are best enjoyed hot at Winterlude on the canal!! LOL
Joan, if it hadn't been for you and your wonderful website, ring, Jazzy and I would have never crossed paths! So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your part in making our luncheon a reality.
I admit, I was getting the lunches confused. I'm glad it went well. What did you each have? So, now it will be Coco, Mary and Amber in the beautiful Vancouver, BC.
Coco,
The 80's were the best decade of my life. In my case, after college I did just what I wanted to do. I moved to NYC, had a variety of jobs, continued my education and somehow managed enough $ to live alone- small, but alone.
