I am so thrilled. Finally found a placement for husband. As u may know I was on wait list for a Medicaid bed and was told probably another 3 to 6 months for an opening. Last week the owner of the assisted living where I leave him for respite called out of the blue and offered to "work with me " to try to get him placed. Anyway he called last night and they will accept him with the understanding that when I can pay more I will. The plan now is to find a job once I get him placed to pay the difference. My sons have stepped up to help me pay. At least now I will maintain control of what money I have left. Because husband is not violent and does not wander they told me he is exactly the type of resident they want. I feel such a relief. I am placing him around Labor Day. This is truly an answer to my prayers.

This sounds very good. Be careful how your sons provide financial help, it is possible that if they give anything directly to the ALF they could be found liable later for other costs. Best if they gave the money directly to you and you paid the ALF. I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV.

So wonderful that the ALF is willing to work with you. He is familiar with the place and they are familiar with him.

CO2, what wonderful news. It is a blessing to have our loved ones in a place where they feel safe and we are confident that they are getting good care. Even with all the financial stresses, it has been a huge weight off my shoulders to see that my DH is comfortable and secure in his new community. best of luck nailing down all the details.
