Update - I have been mostly absent from the boards and even the home page for a week due to a stubborn case of bronchitis. Very difficult to be a sick caregiver. And this illness has knocked me off of my feet. Have been mostly in bed for a week,, except to tend to what Sid needs. When he is at DC, I stay in bed. The cough and fever are better, but the exhaustion and weakness won't leave. I will be back with blogs, news articles, and more when I get rid of this tough bug.

So sorry to hear how ill you have been. I'd guess that all the stress makes it even harder for your body to heal. Wishing you a more speedy recovery!

Stay in bed and give your body a break. It's not like it's under enough strain already.
  2.

I guess the best I can say is that I am better than I was last week at this time, but nowhere near normal. I was already worn out and stressed, so being this sick hasn't helped the situation.

I will say that I learned something from this. If at all possible, I will never, ever, ever do this again alone. It's impossible for a caregiver to take care of themselves AND the person for whom they are caregiving. Next time I get sick, I am going to get someone in here a few hours a day to take care of both of us.

Yesterday, while Sid was at DC, I slept most of the time he was away. I started to feel a little better late in the afternoon when he came home. He was supposed to go to DC today, but it is my day to drive him, and having him sit in the den all day doing nothing was better for me than having to drive him AND pick him up later in the day. Usually the bus takes him home, but they were having some kind of employee inservice today, so there was no bus service. I'm in no condition to be a bus driver today, so we're both home.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. This recovery is slow going. I've been up for about an hour and a half, and I'm tired already. I hate this.

    Thanks Nora. I appreciate it.

Dear Joan that is a huge echo of this past December and January, when we had all our crises and I had really bad pnuemonia. I say the same thing, that I was crazy not to have asked for help, as it almost did me in. Stubborn stubborn thinking I could handle it all. It took me 3 months to recover, and I am STILL having a bit of coughing issues.

I am sorry, if I missed somewhere that you have changed your mind about placing Sid? I do recall you are waiting for some Medicaid to be resolved. Wish I could help you right now!
