I was just wondering if any of you have used tranquilizer type medications for your loved one prior to a medical appointment. My DH is becoming more "antsy" and less tolerant of any type of pain or invasive procedure. He was at the dentist about 3 weeks ago for a cleaning and could only tolerate 20 minutes in the chair. The hygienist is very good and gentle, but he couldn't tolerate the use of the pick. So he didn't really get a thorough cleaning. This morning we returned for a follow-up for DH for a cavity and God bless him, the dentist was able to take care of it in 20 minutes. However, his own mother has AD so he knows the score. He suggested I might want to ask our doctor for a prescription for Xanax to help DH tolerate a longer time for procedure.

Any and all suggestions regarding this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think that is a good idea. Some people will get anxious before going to a doctor and might need it to calm down.
