Hubby has been added Celexa to his meds. How did you find this med worked for your spouse?

He is also on risperidone, did you get it decreased once he started on the celexa? This is all for aggression.

Thanks for your input....best advice around.

Hi Amber, DH was on celexa while on Aricept and Namenda and for a while with Seroquel, Aricept and Namenda. It was added to help control agitation and aggression . Actually I don't think it had an effect at all. In his case, they increased the seroquel, eliminated the Aricept and Namenda, added neurontin and eventually eliminated the celexa.

My husband has been dxd with FTD and has had a lot of aggression, agitation and anger. The neurontin, seroquel and klonopin have helped but not eliminated it entirely.

My Dh told me he would not take any new meds,so I took the celexa.it helped me cope with the situation. Some days I would take anything. This is a tough road we travel.

My DH was on Celexa for a year and it helped the aggression for a while. When it didn't seem to be working we tried Respiradone, that made him worse so then we tried Seroquel. That knocked him out for 6 hours and then he was still nasty the rest of the day. In January we put him back on the Celexa and added Abilify. That was the miracle drug. Within 2 weeks he was actually pleasant to be with. Instead of whacking me on the head when I tried to help him, he now asks nicely if I will help. That is an expensive drug if you don't have really good priscription coverage. We pay $34 for 3 months and the plan pays over $900. He is still on the Aricept but was never on Namenda. I would say he is late stage 6.

PS: I tried Celexa for myself 3 years ago and it kept me awake for 4 days and nights straight. Then I started on Mirtazapine and it mostly keeps me calm. When I loose my cool it usually because I am in a hurry and we all know we can't hurry an AD spouse.
