    Hello All,

I have been absent today. This is the first time I have checked in on the boards. It is late, I am tired, and I will catch up tomorrow. I woke up this morning to the A/C not working. My aplogies to those of you who are still freezing and in the middle of snow and ice storms in the Midwest, but here in South Florida, I needed my A/C. Because I live in a WONDERFUL Independent Living Villa, I called the office, and within 1/2 an hour, the maintenance man was here, told me he had already called the A/C guy, and within an hour, the A/C guy was here fixing the problem.

Then I sat down to write a blog, and POOF!, the Internet was gone. After doing all the things to the cable modem that I knew Comcast would tell me to do when I called them, there was still no Internet. So I picked up the house phone to call Comcast. No phone service. (Cable, Internet, and phone are bundled). Okay, so I called on my cell phone. "Oh", said the nice lady. "Didn't you get a message when you called that there is an outage in your area? We are working on it, and hope to have it fixed by 3 PM." Well, that's nice, except it's 11 o'clock in the morning now, I thought.

So off I went to do some errands and an appointment with my psychologist. By the time I got home, it was 2:45. No phone. No Internet. No Joan on the message boards. At exactly 2:57, both went back on. I then had 30 minutes to eat some lunch before the bus brought Sid home from DC.

I just got him undressed and ready for bed, and decided to check in here. Consider me checked in. Now I'm going to bed.

I have what I think is a very thought provoking blog for tomorrow half written. Hopefully, it will be up for the weekend.

    Nite all.

    Oh, Joan, I hear you.

Despite what happened with my husband and the structure of my life now, I have stuck with several rules for myself. Three of them are: no tv until 6pm (mountain time zone) and also no drinking until 6pm. (And 45-60 minutes of exercise must be done before either of these pleasures.

But, in terms of tv, I like what I like and one of the things I really like is Project Runway. Last week when it was time I turned the tv on to watch Jeopardy. Not a go to, and some of this is because husband used to enjoy it. It was one of the indicators that his brain was shrinking- his response to it.

Anyway, back to last week- no cable. I called comcast and believe it or not spoke with 8 reps, each of whom told me something different. The conclusion was that 1. no, it was not just my house but an area shortage and 2. it would absolutely be fixed by- pick the hour, it never happened.

While having me on numerous holds and me getting more and more anxious because I knew Project Runway was airing out there somewhere the comcast rep tried to sell me on their bundle. No, I think that it not so much because even though it would have saved money, if comcast cable goes out comcast internet goes out as well.

So, I continue to get internet and phone through Century Link because they are connected to the phone line- which also monitors the security system. Even though the comcast took forever I was able to watch PR on my desktop. By Friday evening all had been reconnected for me to watch another mindless pleasure- Fashion Star.

From just what I experienced I think the safest thing is to not bundle or at least not bundle with comcast. Fortunately since I have "priemer enhanced" service with them I was able to watch tv on my desktop monitor for the duration and think I also could have done so on my tablet.

Not the biggest crisis on the planet but frustrating when it happens.
