I had my facet joint injections today. I'm not good with pain, and I have to tell you, I was pretty apprehensive about this procedure. When Sid has it, I sit in one of the cubicles and wait for him. He never seems to have a problem with them. Since the doctor, all the nurses, and the assistant know me from my monthly pain apts. with Sid, they all greeted me and we joked around.
Usually when a doctor says - "You'll feel a pinch and then burning (from the numbing agent)", it means it's going to hurt like Hell. But he was right. Not even a whimper out of me. I honestly hardly felt the shots at all. I think there were six of them. My friend came with me just in case I didn't feel well enough to drive the hour home, but I was okay. By the time we got home, I was tired and very sore, so we skipped going out to lunch, and I came home and laid down.
Now I'm feeling very sore from the shots, but other than that, I'm okay. I sure hope this works.
I'm going to lay down again until The Voice comes on. Hopefully, tomorrow I won't be as sore.
joan, you deserve the much needed rest. I am glad it wasn't as painful as you anticipated. I was once in the ER and the dr said he had to stitch up a laceration under my toes....when I asked him how much it would hurt on a scale of 1 to 10, he said "an 8". When an ER doc tells you the pain is going to be an 8 then you KNOW it's going to be off the scale! Glad to know yours wasn't and that you will be relaxing and caring for yourself tonight.
Joan, Pain itself causes stress and depression. With all the other stresses that you have in your life, I hope that you get relief from the pain to help lighten your load. I hope that you get as much from us as we get from you. This site has helped so many to cope with this ^*@#ed disease that has made absolute chaos of our lives. You are a strong person and will get through this wounded but okay. Peace and love to you. Dorie
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Joan. Along with the caregiving, being in such pain is unimaginable. I hope you get relief from the injections. Thank you, again, for this site! You're an angel!
Thank you everyone. Yes, it did help quite a bit. As long as I don't bend up and down, or lift or push anything, it seems to be better. Don't know how long I can keep up not doing those things, but I'm trying.
Joan, "As long as I don't bend up and down, or lift or push anything", are you serious?? Glad it wasn't a horribly painful treatment, but dang girl!! Sure hope it helps more than a 'bit'. I so wish you had some more help or a respite that could let you recover like you need to. Just say'n..... You are in my prayers, and sure do wish you a speedy response to your treatment. Hugs!
