I've reread some of the earlier discussions about pull-on pants. Several people recommended the ones from Penney's, and I bought some back in 2009 when those discussions were written. Unfortunately, DH has gained a lot of weight since then and needs larger ones, but Penney's no longer has them. Can anyone recommend a brand that is still available? Also, do you think the ones that have all-elastic waists with a zipper and button or snap are better or do you prefer the ones with the elastic waist, but without the zipper and button or snap. So far, my husband knows when he needs to go to the bathroom, but he doesn't always get there in time to undo his belt, the snap, and zipper and get his pants down. I think I want the ones without the zipper, etc., but would appreciate any advice.

I seem to recall Haband had elastic waist pants for men., -- I know they do for women. All of their items are washable.. and that's a plus.

I bought the all elastic ones for Claude. It was much easier to just pull down his pants.

I used the all elastic ones also. Mainly sweat pants in winter and shorts in warm weather. I think I used shorts with all elastic and also a fake snap.

We are late stage 6, almost stage 7 and it is all elastic lounge pants here. Have you checked "Buck and Buck" or "Blair"?

I have been wondering about this myself since hubs is having such trouble with his jeans and remembering all the steps involved in simply going pee. Which brings up the subject of when do you switch to Depends type undergarments. He knows the feeling of when he has to go, but just cant handle all the steps involved in getting to that point.

less is more for an AD person, zippers buttons become confusing and take away precious time when they are in a hurry!
all elastic works well. i agree Blair is where i got ours. maybe some of the discount stores.

Lynn always wore jeans or khakis, he despised sweats. I have tried to preserve his dignity by not using them. I originally bought at Blair's but they didn't hold up well. A couple of years ago Wal-Mart started carrying elastic waist pants, they have full waist and half waist. Lynn is bedbound so zippers are not an issue with him. Of the ones I tried, the ones that work best and look best on Lynn are the half elastic waist. They are less than 10.00 and have held up excellent.

Here is a link to copy and paste if you want to look at them http://www.walmart.com/ip/George-Men-s-Half-Elastic-Twill-Pants/20700528 they have others, you just have to look around through the site as it isn't set up well. A search for men's elastic waist pants only shows 2 items. Our local store carries more than what is offered online.

A hint for if your loved one is bedbound/chair bound, buy the pants longer than normal. As we know when we sit our pant legs rise, buying them a bit too long ensures that the ankle is covered always. Because Lynn isn't able to walk and hence no worry of the pants falling down, I also but them a size larger in the waist. This way he doesn't feel constricted and there is more room for adjustments after placing him in bed or chair with the swing lift.

DH has always worn Jeans for everyday wear. Lately he has trouble with the buttons and they take so long to dry in the dryer. I did get him some "comfort Jeans" from Sears that are lighter weight and do have a little elastic in the sides. They dry a lot faster.

After reading this thread I decided to order some pants from Haband. There was an ad on the back or the American Legion Magazine last month. They were the "Casual Joe" . They are part polyester, full elastic waist but still have a snap and zipper and belt loops. He wasn't going to wear them but I told him I got them for summer so would he try them on. He is now wearing the 2 pair I got, so will order more.

My father bought most of his clothing from Haband. He was overweight and had problems with one of his hands. The Haband clothing suited him well.
