this may have been covered before but I couldn't find anything on it. I've locked up the gun and ammo and hidden the key and put away other dangerous things, but didn't occur to me to think about razor blades. My hubby uses an electric razor (thank goodness he can still shave himself) but the other day he decided to get out his safety razor and take the blade out to clean it - He cut his thumb pretty deeply - blood all over the sink, but I finally got it stopped. Something else I forgot to put away. Just a reminder in case anyone else has this happen.

Yes...Yes....and don't forget to hide money and the check book or any means there is for them to get their hands on money.

My dh once hid $400.00 in the back panel (used for batteries) of a stud finder. They can be very creative at hiding things.

And breakables that are treasured. Walk through the house and look at what is out that you really would hate to lose. The day will come when you'll want to put those away for a while. My china cabinet top is full of them still which is where I collected figurines and glass covered pictures, vases, and other things.

My wife could also make things disappear and then reappear. Several times I was determined to find the slipper or whatever it was that was missing and couldn't - but she did.

Yup, and crystal....all my Waterford is stashed away in case of a fit of rage.

Judith, you are so right about how creative they are, the brain is amazing! My DH has always hid things that he thinks I don't want him to have! Wolf, it is like baby proofing isn't it? George's caregiver, I would say that you DH is a lot more curious than mine, I haven't thought about taking apart an electric razor! I guess I better start thinking about it.

All knives, anything sharp, includng those large meat forks with 2 prongs, all cleaning/garden chemicals or anything liquid they might drink (DH drank about 1/3 cup of mouthwash without warning), anything of value, credit cards, money and anything of sentimental value. DH hides money, his wallet, and whatever he treasures at the moment. Haven't found most of what he's hidden.

I took the knobs off the gas range. I caught him turning them on several times.

His electric shaver disappeared. When I asked where it was, he said at the bowling alley. Well, everything has to be somewhere. I looked all over. Finally bought him a new one. Some time later it appeared on the bureau. I never knew where it was or how it came back. However, a money clip with $300 cash never turned up, we were going on a trip. So if you should find it--it's really mine. I did find the garden hose in the hamper and the TV Guide rolled up in his shoe. Like I said, everything has to be someplace.

These comments make me smile - I know they're serious, but sometimes they can be funny when we look back on them.

Herb has lost his wallet several times. I get tired of looking for things and they always re-appear. The wallet I found above the oven; when I told him where I found it he said he must have hidden it in case of a break-in. I returned it to him and told him to put it in the middle drawer of his desk where he always used to keep it - it disappeared again. Just ran into it again in the closed buried under some of his clothes. This time, I hid it (had to write myself a note to remember where I hid it :_)). I long ago reduced the limit on his one and only credit card to an amount he could use for going out to lunch with buddies, but not so much that somebody could do real damage if he were to be taken advantage of when I wasn't around. He also loses clothing. I think he probably has accidents while wearing some of these and instead of me finding out, he gets rid of them somewhere. His closet is getting seriously low on pants - undies and the others. Guess he'll have to use those Depends and I will buy him some pull on fleece-lined warm-ups (he's always cold).

Good thing, with the help of good meds, he's very good natured - wasn't always this way.

Just yesterday spouse unlocked the front door as he was returning from walking the dog. Hours later...I discovered his house keys in the front door.

Tangentally related. Sometimes they just insist on doing things in a way that just begs for disaster, or in this case, set up everything to ensure that keys would eventually be lost.

My wife doesn't hide stuff or misplace stuff too much, but she used to insist that the 2 shed keys be connected together and refused to put them on a key ring. After all, if you were careful they wouldn't get lost. So two tiny keys connected by tiny wire. I lost the keys going outside one time and had no chance of finding them. When I ordered new keys I had to insisted that they not be connected and be put on large key rings.

The other was her insistence on having her keys on a thing that went around her wrist. Fell off a number of times and eventually she lost them on a trip to the grocery store. So we are now missing one car key (no key duplicator I found has been able to make a copy from my key), one firesafe key, and we had to rekey all of the locks for the house as a security precaution. She now just carries a house key on a key ring that goes in her pocket.

DH has just developed a new pasttime. I had removed screwdrivers, hammers, etc. some time ago - no problem. Well, he found one small screwdriver the other day and proceeded to try to unscrew all the electrical covers, light switches, etc. Fortunately, the one he found was NOT a phillips, so he couldn't get them unscrewed. But it has kept him busy and occupied for several days!

Vickie-hope he does not put that straight screwdriver into the socket!!! You probably have those covers in ther scokets like we do.

I misspoke above. Not the electrical sockets, they are mostly behind furniture. It's just the light switches. It's funny to watch him. He's so intent on what he's doing.
