I learned something the other day about my wife's life Insurance Policy. Her policy has a "Waiver of Premium" for disability. So I contacted my agent and even though I am the policy owner, they will waive her premiums. The life insurance company will send me some paperwork for the doctor to sign, not much more complicated than that. Wish I would have known this 3 years ago when she was first diagnosed. Every dollar counts now a days.
So if your Alzheimer's spouse has life insurance, call your agent and ask about "Waiver of premiums for being disabled". If the person with Alzheimer's is the policy owner for you or other family members, then maybe their policy premiums may be waived. Again check with your agent on that.
Good to know,JerryS. However, my DH's policy provision for this is: "...total disability began after the issue date of this policy and begfore the policy anniversary nearest the Insured's 60th birthday."
Something to check on when disability first begins.
We were able to do this with DH insurance. I only remembered because I go every few years and do a policy review with all the insurance's. And did a review a year before the dx.
