Well, this has not been a great couple of days. My desktop died, and now my laptop is telling me I don't have a genuine copy of Windows 7 in it, and it's about to drop dead on me also. I DO have a genuine copy. I paid for it, and I have a license # and everything. Until I figure out how to fix that issue, I may be left to check the Internet on my Kindle Fire. Ah, what would we do without all of our electronic devices?

I am going to try to write and post a blog before everything shuts down on me.

My new computer guy disappeared. Haven't been able to get in touch with him for a week.

And that's the news from here. Besides my bad back, which has me sidelined from much physical activity. And Sid whining and crying because I'm not jumping up every second to wait on him. When he sees me hurting, he says he'll try to do more for himself, but when I ask him to put his dishes in the dishwasher, he cries and says he hurts too much and can't walk, and I'm just being mean to him. That's how it is living with a spouse with Alzheimer's Disease.

Joan, did you make a system repair disc when you got W-7? I hope so! Everyone should do that. If so, put it in your DVD drive and turn on the computer and see what happens. I assume you have power going to it - or battery?

Too long a story to go into. Laptop is on life support. I'm not shutting it off, because it has the web design software in it that is working. For now. Hopefully, this will all get straightened out by the middle of next week.

The back doctor wants me to rest as much as possible to give all the medication a chance to kick in, so for the weekend, I am mostly lying in bed curled up in the position that makes me most comfortable. It's extremely difficult for Sid to do anything for himself, but I'm insisting on him getting up to get what he needs.

weird how this happens. I have a genuine copy of Microsoft office 2003. My old computer would crash and I would have to reformat the whole thing. I think i did it at least 4 times and 2 of those times when I went to do updates it would say it was not genuine. I was shocked when I installed it on the computer that I did not get that message.

Make sure you back up the web design software now rather than later.

Thanks Nora. Do you know any local computer whiz kids?

I'm pretty sure Matt will talk me through the laptop problem from Chicago, but if Mike (the one Matt hooked me up with here in PSL) isn't available anymore, I'm going to need someone who comes to the house and perform surgery on the desktop.

My laptop is good, but not powerful enough to handle what I need. Matt built the desktop as a special order for exactly what I need to do all that I do. Depending on the price to fix it, I'm seriously consideriing getting a laptop with all of the capability of the desktop he built. Since they have those now, I can't see why I need a big heavy desktop, especially if I have to CARRY into the computer hospital. Just thinking as I write.

I am also considering taking a course in the web design software I use. I only know how to do just certain things, and I'd like to know how to really do everything myself.

    Charlotte,

It makes me feel better to know that you had a "not genuine" message too. When it first appeared, I felt like a criminal, but I know I paid for everything. The laptop came with Windows Vista, which was a complete waste of time, so I had Mike put on Windows 7. I gave him the disk and the serial number that Matt used when he built the desktop. I'm thinking that when you install a new Microsoft product, they make you jump through hoops now to make sure it's not pirated. Just a guess on my part.

Joan - I think you have it exactly. And if they can get people to question, maybe they hope they will buy another copy instead of fight with them on it.

I've read of the Windows non-genuine problem happening. It is the anti-theft system not working properly. I would call MS for support. Or email.

This may be off-topic, but relates to the web site. Yesterday I tried to get on the Alzheimer Store from the link on this website, with no success. I then went directly to the store and put in my e-mail and password, which they rejected. I need to get some incontinence supplies for my wife. What do I do now? None of our local stores carry the product I need.
