My DH had a follow up appt with his Neurologist today. He wasn't due to go back until April, but I have been concerned regarding some of his behaviors (mostly the porn thing) and wanted to have him re-evaluated since his diagnosis to date is "Mild Cognitive Disorder." Long story short....now the Dr. said that DH's symptoms are A-Typical of Alzheimer's. Next step is a PET Scan to try and determine a cause for his dementia. The Dr. also wants him to go the the Johns Hopkins Hospital Memory Clinic in Baltimore. Now I'm anxious to get going on this new strategy...don't know where it is going but hopefully we will get some answers. Problem is my DH doesn't want to do any of it.....but all I have to do is tell him we will go to McDonald's afterward and he will be fine....that's what I did today....oui!!!!

Ferggie, my DH is at the Johns Hopkins Bay View Care Center. I placed him in the Veterans Home in Southern Maryland in October. On the 4th of January they called & asked my permission to transport him to Johns Hopkins because his agitation & aggression just became to much for the staff at the Veterans Home to handle. So they wanted to send him up there for an evaluation & to get his medication adjusted to make him calmer. He has been there a month & I only went to see him once. I have been in touch with the Neuro Psych & he is a really nice guy (he even answers his own phone!) I talked to him on Tuesday & he said that it's possible that he will send my DH back to the Veterans Home next week. (I live 10 minutes from the Veterans Home & an hour & a half from Johns Hopkins). I'm going there tomorrow to see my DH & the doctor said that I should just call him when I get there & he will come & talk to me. I hope you are able to convince your DH to go, because even though I know he will be in a different section then my DH I was very please with his care there.

Fertile, going to Johns Hpokins is a good thing. He will be seen by experts in dementia, and not just those familiar with Alz. My wife sees Dr. Hillis there once a year. They have a FTD clinic. So their wide experience in dementia is a nice change from doctors, if you are lucky, are only familiar with Alz, if that.

Thanks Elaine & Paul. I feel very fortunate to live so close to JH. Only about 1 1/2 hr away. I dont think I will have a problem getting him to go. He always fusses about Dr. Appts but always goes. Will keep you posted.
