My DH caught a bad cold and since he has asthma I thought I should treat it. Several years ago (before the Alzheimer's diagnosis) he was told to take Actifed and I remember he had a adverse reaction to it. When I went in the store (not a pharmacy) I didn't see any Actifed on the shelf to use for comparison. I picked up a store brand "nite time cold multi symptom" pill and gave him the dosage (2) as suggested on the box.He had a terrible reaction that lasted over 48 hours. He couldn't stand up, couldn't walk, his speech made no sense, his hands shook, I researched and it turns out this pill has the same ingredients as Actifed (which isn't being manufactured any more). He is slowly getting back to normal (his normal, at least). This is 72 hours after the pills. Be careful!

That's a good warning Judy. Can't be too careful.
