....During the years when I was so busy taking care of my Dear Helen I didn't have time for much else, But now that she's left me, I find myself with time on my hands and am really starting to enjoy it.I have plenty of friends and family to spend time with but somehow I'm drawn to this site. It was such a blessing during my struggle.
....I've often marveled at the pictures in some of your profiles, They say a picture is worth a thousand words and when I read ones writing and see their picture, everything seems to fit. It helps me to understand your personality, and I feel like I know you better.
....Since I found out that by clicking on your name I could look at your profile, and find out a little bit about you, I do that everytime a new name appears and sometimes there's a picture.
....For some reason, not very many of us have any information about our situation in our profiles. I had put some info in mine when I first joined so you would all understand where I was coming from. Yesterday I decided I would give the picture a try.
....In message boards page, I clicked search "pictures" and found a discussion started by Shoegirl, asking Nikky for help with getting a picture into her profile. This discussion started Aug.2008 and continued for three years with 261 entries. It seemed like everyone wanted to have their picture in their profile and Nikky was telling them how to do it. Over and over again she explaind the process, and almost everyone suceeded in doing it and for some that could not, Nikky did it for them.
....I read every post in the discussion. It was captivating. I couldn't quit. And toward the end everyone there was so happy with their picture and everyone had an icon by their name. And through it all, Nikky was there. Even though she was having neurological problems at the time. She never deserted the group.
....The amazing thing about all this is that Nikkys instructions are still good. I used them and it was a great learning experience. Learning something new especially if its challenging, gives me self esteme which translates into happiness.....Will I ever quit talking about happiness?
....In spite of happiness, I feel the pain of everyone here, especially those of you who do not have a * after your name....GeorgieBoy...
Not only photos, but I often look at a profile & find little personal info - which is a choice, but I would like to know where someone lives, definitely ages & certainly how long AD has been a factor. It helps me to understand a bit more about those posting and affects my response.
Great photo Georgie, your inner happiness just shines thru and it's a joy to know that you still have it.
So uplifting to read our posts. Your picture and profile brought a smile to my face! What a wonderful example of the happiness true love brings. Keep posting. You have so much experience to share.
....What a beautifull picture you have in your profile. I assume that is your lovely wife playing the violin, or is it a viola? ....I have noticed your pictures befor. You must know a lot about photography and editing photos. You have certainly mastered the art of putting them in your profile. ....As for me, I was just following Nikky's instructions form five years ago, trying one thing after another and finally got it.
That's actually a painting I'm working on of a young lady tuning up for a recital. It came from the local newspaper. I'll put a picture of Dianne up in a couple of days so you can see her.
That's a great picture of you and your wife. You are a very spry looking 91 and your eye's are full of life.
Well from someone not computer savvy the instructions are clear as mud,I've tried an tried but alas I shall remain faceless, probably just as well, might freak someone out if they actually saw me,Phranque did see me for breakfast last spring but we couldn't connect last month, hmmmm perhaps thats why we didn't connect,to all who have figured it out great job,now let me see where did I see those beginner computer classes?
Dumb me, lost my picture trying to change it to a current one. Here's how I look now..no wrinkles, blonde, slim and the same old smile. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. If I remember correctly Nikki had me e-mail her a picture and put the first one on my profile. Help...Nikki
I would need the picture and your sign on and password to the board. Ol Don too. Just send an email and we can talk about it directly off line. If you send an email tell me your sign on name in the email (I won't be able to tell it's Bama or Ol Don unless you do). The offer applies to anyone here.
Awwwww wolf, ol don is the ugly one. I think I like the discription of how I look better than the picture. I look in the mirror everyday and wonder who that old lady is that's looking back at me.
Thanks so much wolf. That pic was taken 4 years ago. Do believe I look older after the 4 most stressful years of my life being caregiver to my dh. The baby in my arms is one of my great-granddaughters born 4 years ago March 27.
Thank you Mary. Like many here with their star...there are many days I don't feel great. Last night was one of those times. I didn't get to sleep until 3:00 in the morning and was awake at 7:30. I probably will fall asleep if I watch the big game.
its wonderful to see all the new profile pics! how nice to associate a name with a picture. maybe someone can post here how to get that tinyurl connect working? i think yes nikki put that info up once before. it was pretty easy to do. a step by step how to would be lovely for anyone wanting to post them. i may even put up another if i can figure it out.
I thought I was following Nikki's directions but.... I got my profile done okay, but the one discussion page just shows the top of my head and my eyes :-) I've never been able to figure that one out..... :-)
....I'm only a wana-be at this tech stuff. But if someboby kike Wolf or Nikki explains it in great detail, I can usually get it. ....Wolf has kindly offered to do this for us but if you want to Do It Wourself you can do what I did. Click SEARCH at top of page, then type "picture" and you will find a discussion started by Shoegirl, asking Nikky for help with getting a picture in her profile. This is old, (2008) but it still works
I did see it Wolf. I signed off and then tried to sign on again with that password, but had trouble logging on again. I must have forgot and gotten it all wrong, so I changed the password, and wrote you another emali with a new password. thank you .
If you would rather I didn't do what I did with your picture to give you an icon send me an email and I'll take it back out.
Your second email came in together with my wife's Aeroplan statement and I just learned minutes ago I never look there because it hurts to see her name like she's still here. I looked twice and couldn't see your email and only when I sorted the entire directory by name did I find it. When I resorted by date because now I was really confused I realized we all have 'blind' spots.
Thank you so much Wolf...that's lovely, just leave it like that, that's fine.. I'll update my profile info a bit.. Sadly Dh doesn't look like this now, that was taken April 2012 on our 50th anniversary, yesterday was our DD's 50th birthday, we went to visit him and he didn't know who she was "who is she" he asked. Another heartbreaking moment!
Well, Wolf, you're a genius. Never thought you could rescue this older photo. The other one will sell books (I hope), but, as you say, this one is better. Thanks very much!
Lovely photos...love your hair Mary75*, A Mary?... told me about this site when I left a message somewhere else ( Moving forward with Alz ), it may have been you...thank you so much if it was...
