This Sunday is the annual Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. If you haven't seen it, it's puppies playing on a football field with an announcer calling the plays. There's also the Kitty half-time show and other animals around. For those whose LO's like animals, this is a great TV show and should keep them occupied and happy for some time. You can Google 'Puppy Bowl' and learn all about it. I used to tape Mr. Rogers for DH and each time he saw it, it was new all over again. Puppy Bowl could do the same thing.
Oh, I think there's some sort of event also on TV Sunday with a bunch of men knocking into and over each other chasing a ball. But the puppies are cuter.
I am going into the den right now to record it, just in case I forget to watch on Sunday. I love puppies. Much rather watch that than what my sister and I have dubbed The Stupid Bowl.
puppy bowl just makes you smile. such innocence and a carefree time away from dementia! they are so darling and its all well organized.:) the kittie times are darling as well.! if you love animals its a must. :)
yes Coco - have a old cat. She lays around just like us. I figure she is around 14. In 2000 she was abandoned by our neighbors and we adopted her - took 3 months to get her into the house. She use to play 'cat and mouse' with us when we would get ready to leave. Usually lasted 2-3 hours then suddenly as we walked up she laid down and rolled over. The worst was in 2006 when we had an appointment to get some work done on the MH at a place 4 hours away from where we were working, then were heading another 2 hours to see our grandkids a few days. Art had to leave and I stayed behind with her food in case she didn't want to come. Finally after another 2 hours I told her 'fine, you stay. Here is your food and bowl'. I started to set them down, she walked over and rolled over. 2 years ago I finally bought a small carrier at the animal rescue thrift store. Best $5 I ever spent cause when we get ready to leave a spot she goes in before we start packing up that morning.
Didn't know her name but because she would steal people's gloves in the neighborhood and bring them home - I would find them in the center of the living room - I named her clepto-cat. Now she is just CC since she stopped stealing.
That is so lovely,Charlotte that she now "packs herself up" for the trip. I do remember all your previous stories about her and how difficult it was for you when you had to move. PS: Glad to see you back in full swing again, with your posting.
My sister and brother-in-law live in CT and take their cat in their MH to FL each winter. They put her outside in a harness with a piece of clothesline rope. She travels well.
On the show "You must love cats" they profiled a cat that was stealing all sorts things from the neighbors for years. The size of some objects was astounding. They caught the cat using infrared video cameras.
i saw that paulc myself! it was so funny to watch the cat on video. and after the owners put all the stuff outin the front yard and all the neighbors came to see what was theirs. the variety of objects the cat took was hilarious. even a bikini was taken i think i remember. ha! loved it. cat burglar gives new meaning.
Please, everyone who is going to watch the Super Bowl--root for the Baltimore Ravens! I have the team color (purple) on my finger and toenails to help--someone pointed out to me today that it's also the Alzheimer's Association color. So, I think it's appropriate that I ask for your support for our team! The Puppy Bowl sounds adorable!
I'm watching the Puppy Bowl. However, if anyone saw the movie, The Blind Side, with Sandra Bullock, they know the inspiring story of Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens. As I tell everyone, I hate football, but I loved that movie, and what a fabulous epilogue it would be if Michael Oher earned a Super Bowl ring. For that reason, I am routing for the Ravens.
Everyone - I would highly recommend renting that movie. I enjoyed every minute of it, and didn't realize until the end, that it was a true story.
By the way, for those diehard football fans AND puppy lovers, the two do not conflict. The Puppy Bowl is on from 3-5 (Eastern time), and the Super Bowl begins at 6 or 6:30.
