I have never heard of that particular one. I am familiar with Project Lifesaver - check it out on the left side of my home page. I am not sure if Palm Beach County is a participant.
This feature I liked about this product is that the caregiver has the receiver in hand for tracking the patient. There is no need for local police. DW is registered of course is registered with "Safe Return" Her wandering is limited to local shopping trips. Thus far she's been located within the store. (I've come to avoid Target at all costs with aisles that end half way thru the store. The only real problem I've had was at a farmer's market where police utilized the photo I take each time we go out to ID her. This would locator would facilitate finding her position within a few feet. We lived in a condo year round for more than 10 years and the door personnel know us very well. There are only 8 year round residents out of 100 apt. DW's picture is posted at the desks and all personnel know she is not to be allowed out of the building un attended. Our unit's door's have alarms and over head locks This was just an added level of convenience and security, a new product and was looking to see if anyone had any experience
I have been searching for GPS locators online also. Did you go ahead and buy one? I have been thinking about getting the amberalert gps. It is designed for children, but is also being used by people with Alzheimer's, autism and other cognitive problems. My DH does not wander, but who knows when that may start. Also, he does not know how to dial a phone anymore. The features I like are: 1) 2 way voice 2) SOS voice can be set to call my phone. Has a speaker which automatically picks up, so I can call him in an emergency. 3) multiple geo-fences can be set 4) smartphone can be the receiver 5) GPS tracker leaves breadcrumbs
I would appreciate any feedback too. I probably will buy this on Monday pending any feedback.
I used Family Finder on our Sprint cell for awhile--tracked him as he wandered around our woods and the nearby country cemetery. Of course, if he dropped the cell.....oh, well.
