My dh and I are in the last stages of the latest virus that is going around (at least here in S. CA). I thought I would suggest items to keep on hand just in case anyone gets it. From our experience: chicken soup (broth); plenty of liquids; Maalox or some other item to settle the acid in the stomach (also brush the tongue as the acid in the mouth is awful). There is vomiting and diarrhea so you may want to have something to help with that. Expect to do lots of laundry. The first couple of days you are just very thirsty and want to sleep. Then you can begin the soup, applesauce and banana after a few days. It is all a very slow process. Your LO may not urinate or have a bm right away. It was 5 days for me to have a bm and 4 for my dh. It will last at least 7-8 days. I hope this helps someone who may get this virus. It is not the flu (no temperature or aches and pains).
Dear brindle, so sorry for your illness. Maybe it will die out before it spreads out here to Idaho. Last time dh was ill with flu he didn't even know he had vomited and made the bed. When I went in his room it was obvious to me! That was two years ago and since then I have gotten him a single hosp. bed with three waterproof covers and waterproof mattress pads also. It is much easier to change a single bed every day than a queen bed. Hope you mend quickly!
