I have returned from my week's respite, and just wanted to check in and say hello. I have one more night of rest, as I will not be picking up Sid until tomorrow at noon. You can expect one or two rather interesting and revealing blogs to come out of this respite experience. I learned quite a bit about myself and the caregiving role while I was away.
I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as it could be. For a look at a fun project my sister and I completed for the holiday, go to my Facebook page.
I had actually forgotten what it was like to feel "normal". At first it was odd just to feel so different than I usally do. No responsibilities; no stress; doing only for myself.
We had so much fun making those cookies. Of the two of us, I am the creative one with the better fine motor skills ( i.e. - my knitting), but I still had my doubts that they were going to look like the picture. We were all excited when they came out so great. I also made two ruffle scarves while I was away.
I also bought enough stuff in Bath and Body Works to have added 9.2 lbs. to my suitcase. I hadn't been there in 2 years, and who can resist their sales?
Time for me to go to bed. Picking Sid up at noon tomorrow.
Please stay tuned for a new blog about my respite experience and what it taught me about being an Alzheimer Spousal caregiver. It will most likely be posted on Monday.
