Don't do facebook but Classmates in a good way to keep in contact, anyone else belong?More selective than facebook I think, anyway since we can't post pictures here if anyone does belong to Classmates I have lots there if anyone is interested
I used to belong, and I re-connected with a girl I graduated with - but had lost contact for almost 50 years! We are now best buddies. But I think I canceled with them because of the number of e-mails I kept getting wanting me to upgrade!
I use to belong - that is how I connected with a couple old classmates from grade school. I upgraded one year to gold and didn't realize they would automatically renew the next year without asking. Once I figured out who the charge was from (google the name on the credit bill which did not say classmates) I went in and deleted my credit card which was not easy to do. They don't like people doing that.
Unless you upgrade you can't read messages people have left for you. You are limited in what you can see about other people.
Auto renewals are common for many services.
But for a few years classmates was run by conmen. They sold you credit card to other services. They claimed falsely that other people left you messages. I just got a check for $4 due to a court settlement over their various illegal activities. But classmates has had new owners for a few years who run classmates in an ethical manner. I just think they have been hit so hard by FB.
There was a opportunity to click off on auto renewal on account page, never have any problems with them but guess I'll not renew, most of classmates of mine have passed on anyway
I really love my FB account. I have it set up so the security padlock icon shows just like my bank accounts due. If you go to security on your account you can do the same thing.
paulc, I just got a $4 check in the mail also due to the court settlement. I also updated to gold one year and had a hard time stopping the renewal also.
Funny thing is that I never paid a cent. My wife did the year she arranged her high school 25th Ann. Reunion. But she didn't join the lawsuit so she never got a check. She joined and dropped the paid membership before the shenanigans started.
