Many of our home health groups sponsor this each year. They provide a lovely lunch, have manicures, hair cut, makeup, massages, etc. It's really nice. I intented to go. The ALZ Respite Center where I take DH (and not happy because of lack of activities), posted a sign yesterday indicating that MOST of their staff would not be available today since THEY were going to this, so they could only take 10 patients today at daycare! How crazy is this?? So, what were the REAL caregivers supposed to do with their carees today? Like me, I guess they stayed home with them.
Well Vickie-I guess now you know how low on the totem pole the real, unpaid care givers are. Will the rest of the world out there ever get the message. My pain is over-but I will never stop advocating for the caregiver. Rather than ask about the person who is ill-I make a point of asking the caregiver how they are doing. Most of my neighbors now do the same thing.
