My husband was laid to rest yesterday. We were contacted by an old acquaintance of his that he could have these riders at his funeral. It was a great honor to have them there. They stood outside the church in a flag line and guarded the casket from the minute his body entered the church. Then they escorted the hearse to the grave site on their motorcycles. My husband loved the military and riding bikes so it was wonderful. I believe any veteran is entitled to this service so if your loved one was a vet you may want to check them out. What an honor it was to have them there. There is no cost for this just other vets wanting to honor their deceased .

Without my asking there was a military guard at my husband's burial. The flag presented was beautiful. grannyD happy that your husband was so honored. At this delicate time of your life these are the things that keep you going.

My son-in-law is a member of that wonderful group(Patroit Guards) He travels alot in all kinds of weather to honor those fallen heros.I am so proud of him.

I think it is the Patriot Guards who also protect the families from that disgusting Phelps group who try to disrupt military funerals if I am not mistaken.
I am glad your service was so meaningful for you..that will help in the days ahead.

granny D, glad to hear the Patriot Guard stepped up. My DH and I used to ride with them until DH could no longer ride his bike. I plan to request them to ride at his service when the time arrives. you are also entiltled to a free grave marker, notify your local VA chapter if the funeral director has not already done so. Prays for you in the coming weeks and months.
